Someone finally posted video of the Star Fox easter eggs. Krystal is there, as are most of the other characters. (Panther is up to his old tricks again, flirtin’ with Krystal.) Enjoy.

Ganbare, Fox-kun!
Is it just me, or does anyone else find the dialogue to be a bit of a distraction during a fight?
Did anyone else here happen to notice that they keep most of Krystal’s dialogue length to about one second? It’s like they’re going out of their way to make sure Krystal has the least screen time…
Yeah, I noticed that right off the bat. Nintendo definitley seems to have something against her. :(
I don’t think nintendo went “we really want to get back at those krystal fans, let’s not put her in the game.”. That seems a bit paranoid to me.
I think it’s more of a case she wouldn’t work as a clone, and probley doesn’t fit into the storyline as well as wolf might. I don’t know, haven’t played it.
I’m sure there not trying to kill off the sf game all together. It was one of the biggest downloads on the wii and whats his face,Shigeru Miyamoto and Takaya Imamura mentiond something of the wiimote and ideas for a new series. You would think theyd try to kill of slippy some how”one of the least liked characters. They had a chance with Assaul and that would have been perfect. It seems like one of you mentiond earlier it’s probably becouse of the love interest and furry fandom of it all. Just give what the people want nintendo… sorry. Just can’t believe that theres only 35 playables in smash and krystal or not, they were lazy with it.
I have a feeling that stage will be one of the most unpopular among my group of friends. It’s epic and beautiful, but who wants to hear all that dialog over the music while battling?
@Sabre
She wouldn’t have had to be a clone. She could have a completely original moveset. But instead, Sakurai took the lazy way out and then gave us all a big f-you by not even making her an Assist Trophy.
However, there is one good thing I noticed–they chose to have her still be part of Star Fox. Good sign for the future, people.
I have to agree with AJ. It could be worse, she could end up like Fara, never to be heard of again. Hopefully that won’t happen, and if it, then I hope that Krystal lasts for a very long time.
Interesting video. It was very distracting though with all that talking. I wonder what they’re saying? Could anyone possibly translate this, please?
Well, what I meant by the good sign was that they’re probably planning on having her stop being such an icy bitch and rejoin StarFox in the next game.
@Glitcher and CirclesofGray
These conversations have to be activated to work. They aren’t going to distract you unless you choose to have them. They’re easter eggs.
Haha, I see.
I have to agree with that as well. I…didn’t like her in Command…I also didn’t like Command at all. Probably because several of the endings were depressing.
@Mr. Krystal
…Oh.
I at least love how Command has three different happy endings where Krystal gets back together with Fox permanently.
Kewlness XDD. Glad to see Panther is just as Panther-ish as eva XDD.
@AJ
Yeah, I suppose there’s that. I guess that’s all I have to say.
@AJ good point about Krystal being part of the team. However, where does this fall timeline wise, anyway? There’s a major sign that makes me think it takes place before Assault. However, before I go into what that sign is…Mr. Krystal, what’s your stance on spoilers for previous games in this discussion?
Falco’s Japan voice kind of sounds like the mayor of Califora’s voice.That would be cool if it was.I don’t go by the name Fox McCould anymore.I’m Darkknight.AND NO ONE COPYS MY NAME LIKE LINK MCCLOUD AND MCLOUD!You all can keep those names,BUT DON’T STEAL DARKKNIGHT!OR CHANGE IT!
@Esilidon
I don’t care if you spoil something in comments.
As for timelines, I’m pretty sure the Smash games fall into an interdimensional time where the sequence of games doesn’t matter.
It’s really disappointed was to see Krystal in such a minor role. I was hoping to see her as a playable character, of course, but I was also hoping that she would at least be an alternative costume for Fox. At the very least, I would have liked an Assist Trophy. This… this is disappointing.
Thanks Mr. Krystal. Anyways, I was going to point out that in the video you can clearly see the old Great Fox in the background. Though if we’re to ignore timelines for Brawl, then I guess we can assume that, like a lot of the goings on in the stages, its just there cause Sakurai thought it would look cool.
Concerning the timeline, I agree with Mr. Krystal 100% Smash bros has never gone by the official timeline of a franchise, and I don’t think they ever will, it would mess up the story lines of franchises such as star fox etc.
Hopefully though, they decided to have the nice Krystal in this stage cos they thought she was best in star fox, and not being moody cos fox went a bit emo on her. Which hopefully means she will be in the team on the next game
Oh and lol @ Peepy’s voice at 37 seconds.
@Esilidon
Further proof that Smash Bros. has an independent timeline from franchise canons: While the old Great Fox is there, Fox himself has made the horrid transformation into the gumdrop-head version of himself from Command, yet no one else has a gumdrop-head. Ergo: Fox is from Command and everything else is from Assault!
And no. I don’t take this theory seriously, but it’s always fun to make fun of the “artwork” in Command.
I’m thinking they chose the gumdrop look due to it’s arcade likes presentation. But I’m sure if you had 100 SF fans sit in a room and choose which look they would like since the last 3 games, there would probably be like 5 votes for the command look. So I’m not too certain but I think Sakurai didn’t listen to his fans almost at all.(Everytime I play this game I know my eye’s are going to lock on to that little gay ROBot and say “What a pos character”) They thoght it would be funny, but you know what Sakurai? IT WASN’T!!!!

As for Krystal I agree that they at least kept the Assault look for her, but I don’t see why they leave her in such a minor role, when there was a huge demand for her. I like Wolf and everything (except his Final Smash) but I would have preferred her to have a more playable or assistable version of her.
@ post 16
Geez, “Darkknight”. I don’t see your copyright on the name, don’t spaz at it. >.>
Anywho… Anyone wanna find out what they are saying? It’s a bit much, but hey, what else are we going to do until March 9th, besides being in denile about her in the North american verison. /cry
They don’t really have anything against Krystal anyway. They don’t “hate her” as everyone is using as an excuse. Keep in mind she’s relativly new to the game, while Wolf and Falco have been in the WHOLE series and the comics that came before the games.
As for the next Starfox game for Wii, of course she is part of the team. Command is considered NON-CANON, no influence what so ever.
@ Voices
…Are those… The same from Assault? Slippy sounds familiar, but even more like a little girl. Krystal definatly the same.
4th post in a row, woohoo!
Uhh… Right, the stuff i was suppose to post.
Wolf isn’t really a clone, besides for the final smash. Besides that, think about it. A blaster is standard for Starfox… Kinda hard not to give a Starfox character a blaser. Wolf’s other moves are different than Fox’s. Falco’s a clone though. /cry
“Keep in mind she’s relativly new to the game, while Wolf and Falco have been in the WHOLE series and the comics that came before the games.”
Wolf was introduced in SF64. And the comics didn’t come before the games.
And the fact that Krystal’s somewhat new to the series shouldn’t change anything. Ike, Lucas, Lucario and the trainer from Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen are relatively new too, but they were still included.
“As for the next Starfox game for Wii, of course she is part of the team. Command is considered NON-CANON, no influence what so ever.”
Actually, only the endings are considered non-canon. Of course, there is still the odd chance that perhaps in the official storyline she at least joined the Cornerian army instead of Star Wolf.
“Wolf isn’t really a clone, besides for the final smash. Besides that, think about it. A blaster is standard for Starfox… Kinda hard not to give a Starfox character a blaser. Wolf’s other moves are different than Fox’s.”
Only his A moves are different.
@ Crush
Haha! that broght a smile.
Wolf looks like he’s going to feel like ganon but faster.
… Is it me or did that sound kinda gay?o_O.
@McCloud
Not counting the unreleased Star Fox 2, Wolf has been in exactly the same number of games as Krystal.
Well, just played MassEffect. While I was sitting there with my controller in one hand and a diet sam’s choice cola in the other I thoght, “MAN! it would be so chya if star fox was alot like this game”
That’s true and strange how wolf is making an intry all of a sudden after all this time. I’m thinking the next star fox game is going to feature wolf as the nemesis seeing how Andross has been blown up more times than expected and the option for universe wide epidemic of killer ROBot bugs is no longer original… hate that robot.
Hey guys, I when I found out Krystal wasn’t going to be in Brawl as a playable character, it killed me. I really couldn’t believe it. So I did some research…for a long time, actually. And I came across this on an IGN board. Here’s a link, hopefully its the right one…
http://boards.ign.com/super_smash_bros_/b5213/158517330/p1/?125
Now I know there isn’t much proof behind all of this, but hey, it kinda sounds believable. It’s an interesting read, nonetheless. And if this does in fact turn out to be true, then it would be a PERFECT explanation as to why Krystal, along with some other highly popular characters, didn’t make the playable roster NOR the assist trophy/trophy list. Again, I’m not sure, but we really should pay close attention to this. Especially in the near future…
Could you compact, rephrase and put to the point what that board was about? It’s not that I’m lazy it’s just that me and others might not want to read such a long conversation that we have no part of. If I’m lazy I’m lazy but I do know that I speak my mind.
Well, the article basically says that Nintendo is planning to release a new revolutionary piece of technology next year, and that it is going to be announced sometime in Spring. It wasn’t made specifically for Brawl, but the two are VERY closely related. It’s interesting because it says that the characters who are almost nowhere to be found in Brawl were actually done like that on PURPOSE, because it’s all part of Nintendo’s “brilliant plan”. Again, I’m not sure what this “new technology” is, but it has a lot of people on the edge of their seats. I just want people to be aware of this, in case it turns out to be true. Because if it IS, Krystal’s still got Hope!
Well, it’s fun being shot down, huh? Read the “i’m in denile” part again.
Hey! That’s right. Gotta’ make more money, after all. Now I know how they’re going to fund the fact that they got so many famous VG composers to write a couple of songs each.
@McClould
Just be thankful I’m kind enough to let you keep that name.And I get really MAD when someone copys my name.But I’ll let it pass.For now that is…
@S. Weltzin
Necessity is the mother of invention. Nintendo needs money now to pay all the composers, so they invented a new money making scheme :p
@Darkknight
Let’s be civil here. There’s no limitation on who can name themselves what. With a popular name like McCloud, you need to accept that others will use the same name.
So far the Wii fit is considered a highly new piece of anticipation. Thogh, E3 is nearing and not like I have high expectations but maybe there will be something under the sheets of nintendo and probably a new sf game. who knows, I hate the unexpected.
Ahhh same good ol’ Slippy with his awsome japanese voice, ya i know I’ll get flammed and get things like “omg ur fave is slippy u must b g@y! LOL” but dont care and it’s sad at the same time, cause these kind of characters (the caring, kind and friendly characters) are considered gay or cowards or girly or annoying here in this continent while in japan are very common and even real life persons are like this (his voice and behavior) and noone of the are bothered or bullied by idiots like here.
Thats the reason why Slippy is always in the StarFox team, his is Fox’s best friend, he’s the team’s mechaninc and genius inventor (Landmaster, reflector shields, blasters, arwings, blue marine, communicators, blah blah blah), u can always count on him (like Fox does), etc.
Thats why we got Conker’s bad fur day (wich is a really good game, but thats not the point), conker twelve tales was changed to a more mature appealing audince, leaving behind the old nice conker (wich is ok cuz that conker was childish and i mean childish!!…like…i dunno…teletubies??).
Sakurai did a good job with smash bros brawl, a nice balance between old and new characters.
Any comments on this are welcome.
“noone of the are bothered or bullied by idiots like here.”
That’s very naive. Japan has bullies just like anywhere else.
Sorry people call you gay.
I thoght Falco was fox’s best friend.
@Sabre
By that i meant that they arent “bullied” by his voice or behavior (unlike here, and by “here” i mean the american continent not only US), and i know that japanese have bullies, like a friend of mine said to me: for every nice person there are 10 jerks, 10 idiots, 10 smart asses, etc and so on.
@Krystallizedsugar
Its not like that, i just thought that my comment wouldnt be so appealing to the 1337 community and some smart ass would say that to me, after all Slippy is a character u can dispose of very easily isn’t?, Assault…HA! dont make me laugh.
Sorry for my english, its not my native language :P.
@Krystallizedsugar
Oh and btw….if u care to check the trohpies on both SSBM and SSBB u can read that Slippy is a childhood friend of Fox.
Childhood frienship vs Academy Friendhip.
U tell me.
Some of those trophy descriptions were actually notorious for having false or mistranslated info on them.
Don’t worry and I know what you ment. Slippy is just a very annoying and uninspiring character to me. He’s not looked to be much of a hero here. At the least I find him to be more of a comic relief to break the action in these games. That’s the only thing I’ll miss that character for if they decide to let him go but it’s an easy replacement. Krystal was put in I believe to add attraction and romance to the franchise and make SF have an indepth feel to its world of reality. fox has the discipline, Falco with the badassness, and slippy whos the comic. Other characters are more background.
@LanceDawson
I suppose that’s good enough to believe he is best.
@ Darkknight
You’ll LET ME keep the name? Please, deflate your ego before typing again. This is a forum about Krystal in Brawl, so i could be Fox, Krystal, Marcus, James, Vivi, honestly, it’s not YOUR NAME!
PS: Sorry for the rant, Mr. Krystal. He pisses me off. >.>
How do you activate the easter eggs anyway? Is it the same as Melee (smash the D-pad ’till it works? lol, Heck that’s what i do anyway) Or is it unlockable this time?
After watching that wolf vs sonic vs snake vs R.O.B. fight, I was wondering. When Wolf gets all red is that the emo verison of Fox’s reflector? I think Falco throws his reflector out, too. Hmm…
And does R.O.B. remind anyone of that movie that coming out uhh… Wall-E? lol, kinda funny.
The first thing to come to mind was that old movie with the robot “Number 5″. I think it was called Short Circuit.
Oh, and to everyone saying that “they’re lazy,” get off it.
No WAY they were lazy, they packed a lot of content and quality in here, and it looks like they spent a lot of time balancing the characters rather than just throwing more in there.
Can’t blame them for that. We could’ve waited an extra year, too, ya know. :P
If they spent alot of time balancing the characters, why did they decide to throw in a bunch of lame clones?
@ McClould
Sorry,for whatever I did to you.I can unstand how it is to be pissed.
I’d like to believe that Krystal is still waiting in the wings somewhere…but the game is already out in Japan, and it’s been combed from top to bottom for hidden characters. If she was in there, somebody would’ve unlocked her by now. Geez, picking Wolf ovet Krystal is the worst casting decision since John Wayne as Genghis Kahn.
“Geez, picking Wolf ovet Krystal is the worst casting decision since John Wayne as Genghis Kahn.”
Unless you like Wolf, in which case it’s ok.
