   Ugh, the shear amount of “fanart” featuring the 3D model is really off putting. I would prefer to see pictures people drew themselves, not screen shots of someone else’s work posed in various generic poses with equally generic clothing and backgrounds- Unless it is a submission by either CharleyFox or Little Dragon, I’d rather not see it.

   There should be quality control when it comes to those submissions. Only actual fan art should be listed here.

   Hear, hear! I really hate all the 3D screenshots flooding the fan art section. It’s little more than a copy-and-paste of existing models. There should be some kind of filter for that sort of stuff. While we’re on the subject, maybe we should also filter out the five-minute, badly-coloured doodles of Krystal that plague the other half of the updates. I’m tired of wading through the bad fan art while looking for the good.

   Plus there seems to be a TON of copied/traced art there, at least half of which gives ZERO credit. I wish I could remember who drew the originals so I could report them…if you happen to remember, please do.

   Glitcher is right, we could certainly do with some quality control here…

   As for the copied/traced images, Tailsrulz is the most common victim, followed by Black Berry and Dr. Comet. Heck, I’ve encountered submissions on DA of images already hosted on the original artists page, with comments saying “Nice job on the coloring” and the thief replying back with “Thanks. Took me all night”

   I had to have reported atleast fifty different images last month.

   I’m one to agree with you guys, I’ll scroll through the list and check the url before clicking, because I really have no interest in checking out those 3D models. I’d much rather see actual artwork, even if it was drawn by a ten year old.

   It really urks me to see traced artwork on here also, even if they give credit (which looks like most of them don’t).

   Nonetheless… The original content (however old the artist may be) isn’t bad.

   I’m thinking about doing some kind of “Picks” thing, with maybe the top 10% of artworks (in my opinion) are highlighted as such. It will take some time what with 5000 fanarts to go through, plus a bunch of scripts that don’t handle an additional setting.

   I really don’t know what to do guys. Some of the 3D artworks ARE good, though rare, as you said. And the goal for me is to be complete, not preferential. Maybe at some point, I can separate out the 3D works into their own list.

   As for tracers, this one’s even more difficult. There are two problems. I don’t post obvious copies, to the best of my ability. However, it requires me to remember who did what (I have over 1000 artists in my personal collection). It takes a long time to do this research if they don’t credit the artist. Then again, if they credit the original artist, they probably aren’t tracing. They’re just redrawing the picture freehand. SketchBookStyle does appear to me to be freehand sketching older works, not tracing, so in that sense, it’s allowed. Everyone starts somewhere, and indeed, professional artists often practice by copying master works. If they truly traced it, report them, and their art will be removed, and then it will eventually be removed from these lists as well.

   Ha ha! I’ve had something like that happen to me. Around 2001 I used to draw fan-Mavericks for the Mega Man X series. One day, some douche nabs them and uploads them on his own forum. Members would come and offer their congratulations to him, and he’d reply with, “Thanks. I try to put a lot of creative effort into making these.”

   One girl mentioned it’s somewhat flattering to have your art stolen. I told her that’s like saying she’s proud someone thought she’s so sexy that he tried to rape her. >_>
