Krystal in Star Fox Adventures
Krystal’s first real appearance was in Star Fox Adventures. However, her appearance was brief due to the game’s transformation to a Star Fox title. The story began after Krystal responded to a distress signal from Sauria (Dinosaur Planet). Apparently she landed her ship and asked a nearby Cloudrunner (Pterodactyl) for assistance in locating the source of the distress signal. On the way, while riding the Cloudrunner, they were attacked by General Scales’ Galleon and Krystal lost her Staff into the clouds below. She fought and defeated the half-alive flying ship with energy beams from apparently nowhere (this may be a plot hole, in which she is still assumed to have her Staff, which is capable of such energy blasts). She boarded the Galleon and explored it. With the help of a baby Cloudrunner she found a key to Krazoa Palace. Returning to the baby, General Scales appeared and proclaimed his rule over Sauria. When Krystal attempted to stop Scales from being aggressive towards the baby, the General threw her overboard. Fortunately, the Cloudrunner from earlier caught her and they continued towards the distress signal.
After finding that the distress signal originated from the Krazoa Palace, Krystal entered the temple and found several guards laying injured and dying. On questioning one, she found that Scales had removed the Spellstones, stones that keep the planet from falling apart, and massacred the guards sent to protect them. The guard told Krystal to find and release a Krazoa Spirit, the only thing that would have the power to restore the planet. After passing the Krazoa Spirit’s test, the spirit entered Krystal’s body to be released back into the temple. As soon as Krystal released the Krazoa, however, someone came up behind her and knocked her into a beam generated by the Krazoa. Krystal became trapped in a large crystal on top of the Krazoa Palace while the released Krazoa circled around her.
After team Star Fox was tasked by General Pepper with discovering the problem with Dinosaur Planet and fixing it, Fox found Krystal’s Staff in Thorntail Hollow. When he pulled it from the ground, he received a recorded message from Krystal explaining how to use the Staff. Fox quickly mastered its combat and utility uses. When Fox recovered and returned the first of four Spellstones to its rightful place, a Krazoa Spirit appeared to him and explained that Krystal was trapped and would die unless the rest of the spirits were collected. The Krazoa allowed Fox and Tricky to hear Krystal crying out in great pain. Fox decided to help out. When he eventually got a Krazoa Spirit and teleported to Krazoa Palace to release it, he saw Krystal for the first time and immediately became enamored with her. After this, Fox was determined to find the Krazoa Spirits as well as the Spellstones so that he could save Krystal in addition to the planet.
After Fox returned all of the Spellstones and received the final Krazoa Spirit from General Scales, Fox released the spirit only to realize that because of Krystal’s psychic powers, she unwillingly channeled the six spirits into the remains of Andross, who revived. Krystal was released, but was almost killed by a very high drop. Fox saved her with her Staff, and while pulling her up, Fox and Krystal briefly looked deeply into each other’s eyes. When Krystal regained her bearings, she snatched her Staff back, not knowing anything that had transpired over the past few days. Krystal made a futile attempt to stop Andross, while Fox boarded his Arwing and flew after him to continue the battle in space.
With the help of Falco, Fox managed to defeat Andross yet again. The Krazoa Spirits were freed from his grasp and they proceeded to restore the planet. Fox and Falco returned to the Great Fox where General Pepper congradulated the team on a job well done and paid them for their work. Falco decided to rejoin the Star Fox team and Krystal arrived in her recovered ship. She thanked Fox for helping her. Fox became immediately embarrassed around his friends. However, Fox was happy that she had come. Fade to credits.
