Thanks again, Malroth! I know everyone will enjoy it.

For now, let me share with you some of my research.

I’ve been writing out the text for all voice clips in Star Fox Adventures, including clips not found in the game (I’ve had them for years, just never got around to processing them). During that, I decided it was high time to figure out all of the unknown Saurian, and perhaps start working on a phonetic Saurian translator.

Discoveries and Errors

I have now decoded the remainder of all spoken Saurian in the game, including stuff not in the final game. I also found a couple of errors. Not counting unused clips not already featured here on the KA, this is what I found:

• The clip first featured here that wasn’t used in game of Krystal saying “I’m going to head inside.” is actually
  “I’m going to check inside.”
  “A’m weadw ke sxosb adjato.”
• The baby CloudRunner on General Scales’ Galleon had a Saurian line, which, as best as I can determine is
  “Xocf mo wok eik ev kxaj suwo! Kxo who0 bo0′j rocen tosb!”
  “Help me get out of this cage! The grey key’s below deck!”
• When General Scales is saying “You see, I must control this planet with fear.” which should be
  “0ei joo, A mijk sedkhec kxaj fcudok nakx vouh.”
  the part “0ei joo, A mijk sedkhec” is pronounced glaringly differently, almost as if he’s saying something else, but I couldn’t determine what that might be.
• General Scales accidentally got his lines jumbled at one point. Specifically, he says
  “Kxaj aj dek eloh!”
  “This is not over!”
  in between “0ei tuho ke sxuccodwo mo?” and “De edo sud tovouk General Scales!”
• When first meeting the Queen EarthWalker, she says the following:
  “No’lo rood nuakadw veh 0ei.”
  “We’ve been waiting for you.

  “M0 jed, Prince Tricky, xuj rood sufkihot r0 kxo SharpClaws udt kubod ke Ice Mountian.”
  “My son, Prince Tricky, has been captured by the SharpClaws and taken to Ice Mountian.”

  “0ei mijk we ke kxo Warpstone.”
  “You must go to the Warpstone.”

  “Xo xuj whouk fenoh udt sud jodt 0ei kxoho.”
  “He has great power and can send you there.”

• When the SharpClaws are beating him up, Tricky says
  “Wok evv mo!”
  “Get off me!”
• When Fox interrupts, the SharpClaw says
  “Nxuk … Nxe’j kxuk?”
  “What … Who’s that?”
• Tricky says to Fox after being saved
  “0ei’ho cisb0 ak’j u xek jfhadw eh 0ei’t ro vheqod r0 den.”
  “You’re lucky it’s a hot spring or you’d be frozen by now.”
• I don’t know if it’s in the game or not, but one of the files had the Queen EarthWalker saying
  “Fcoujo! Xocf m0 jed.”
  “Please! Help my son.”

Phonetics Research

Additionally, I’ve researched the English phonetics system, and have settled on the following pronunciation guide. I will use this (or similar) when creating my phonetic Saurian pronunciation translator.

‘A’ – eight, locate, ballet
‘a’ – at, glass
‘ah’ (simplification) – all, hall, jaw, awkward, clock, raw
‘b’ – ball, taboo, rub
— No c
‘d’ – dear, radar, bleed
‘E’ – eat, week, tree
‘e’ – extra, bet
‘f’ – food, lifeboat, thief
‘g’ – goose, ago, flag
‘h’ – happy, greyhound
‘I’ – aisle, mine, try
‘i’ – invite, pin
‘juh’ – job, badger, cage
‘k’ – cow, peeking, wake
‘l’ – late, balloon, fall
‘m’ – mask, amount, calm
‘n’ – knob, pin
‘O’ – over, boat, hello
‘oo’ (simplification) – drew, foot
‘p’ – pot, top, happy
— The ‘qu’ construction should be represented ‘kw’
‘r’ – rope, barron, far
’s’ – soap, assume, miss

One last thing, a person named Tom emailed me a few days ago to show me his translator, found here. It has a pronunciation box already, so it might be worth a look. I haven’t tested it to see how accurate it is, because I haven’t finished that part of my research yet. However, I’m sure we will build off of each other’s research at some point.

One FINAL note. If anyone ever wonders where the name “Saurian” came from as the name of Dino Language, let it be known that *I* invented the term at least 4 years ago (before the KA was a twinkle in my eye). This term is NOT official.
