Either I uploaded a bad version or Javascript changed slightly since I last updated, but the new version was not working. I decided to try again, and after a couple day’s work, I’ve updated it. Sadly, I don’t have any new features to talk about. Sorry, no pronunciations. (YET!)
I discuss many future plans for the Krystal Archive and also announce chapter 8 of my fanfic.

Hello again my fellow Krystal fans! I thought I’d give a quick update on how things are going and explain the current slow progress of new posts.

First, some good news: I finished a new chapter of my fanfic! Some of you will be really, really excited about this, and some of you will not care. For those of you who care, I hope you enjoy! I hope to finish this thing soon so we can all have the satisfaction of the complete story. For those of you who DON’T care, good news for you too: I’m planning to finish this fic soon, and forever put down my fanfic-ing pen… With one more project out of the way, I’m left with more time for updates and such!

Secondly, I’ve been working on new fanart tools. These are things of beauty! Seriously! I’m redesigning the whole system to work as online tools that can be hosted here on the Krystal Archive. That means anyone, anywhere, anytime, can help me with art, no programming skills required. Having my job as an online video game programmer has really helped in this area. I’ll let you know when I have something to show. Fanart updates will finally return.

Thirdly, that leads into my other fan work operations: fanfictions and fanfilms. I need to make a few tools to help you help me get them submitted to the site. With the burden off of me for fan-works, I’ll have more time for…

I’m planning a new Krystal Archive. Version 4 to be exact. I’ve already got the design (simpler, more effective for what you want to see) and it features some amazing imagery from a rising star in the Krystal community, Greyfirefox. The new version of the site will take a ton of work, so it may be a while. What will hopefully be a lot sooner, though, is…

I need to do a podcast! It’s been many months and there is a lot to talk about. Further, I’ve been wondering about doing a live show this time. What do you guys think? Would you be interested in calling in to a show that was streaming live? It could even be a video podcast if I can find a quiet place with high(er) speed internet. What do you think? What do you want to do on the show?

Hello everyone, the name’s Runner. Star Fox Runner. Some of you may know me from the Starfox-Online forums.

Mr. Krystal has invited me to help him with fanart and writing new articles here on the Krystal Archive, and seeing how I helped him behind the scenes with fanart once before in the distant past, I was happy to take up the job. I hope you all enjoy what I have to say on Krystal related subjects in the future.

For my first post, a new fangame prominently featuring Krystal is being created by TheUndyingNephalim, the director of the now dead Project Kursed mod. It is being called Star Fox RTS, and as the name suggests, it will be a Real Time Strategy game in which players will command their own squadron and customize their craft. The story will also feature Krystal prominently and talk about her past.

Here is the first trailer for the game.
Direct Link

This is an animation test featuring Krystal in a communication box.
Direct Link

There is no release date yet, but TheUndyingNephalim plans to release demos of the game at regular intervals.

I’ve been sitting on news for too long! I’m really sorry rhyfe2002, Greyfirefox, all my readers, and everyone else who sent me content. I haven’t been posting in a regular manner. Some of that is due to life, but a lot of it has to do with something else. Inherently a perfectionist, I want to make sure everything is in place before posting on the homepage. Unfortunately, that just leads to it getting pushed further and further back. So, new strategy: when I get it, I post it. Consolidation into pages will take place after the fact. Deal?

Good, because I’m posting two cool things like right now!

Hey guys… Well, I have some good news, and I have some bad news.

As you probably know, I’ve been applying for all sorts of game programming positions in the past few months, but I’ve not been having much success. So the good news is that I now have a job offer from a really awesome company. Maybe you’ve heard of them, they are called Retro Studios. That’s right, they made Metroid Prime 1, 2, 3, AND Donkey Kong Country Returns. They’re pretty much my favorite game studio ever! Just the other day I noticed that they FINALLY opened up new positions after several years of me watching their career page. So I applied, got a call, had a few interview questions, and just like that, they want me on the team! (I’m sure knowing a few people who used to work there and being relatively close by helped.)

That was the good news. The bad news is that they emailed me their employment agreement form tonight. I spent hours pouring over the details and one thing is sadly very clear. They don’t want their employees to take part in any fan communities of Nintendo products or games, or publicly talk about them, AT ALL. Not even on personal time. There are exceptions for media relations people in approved conditions, but I’m a software programmer, so that doesn’t help me at all. Basically, there’s no way I can both be an employee at Retro Studios AND run the Krystal Archive. I might not even be able to comment on here anymore (“NO participation in online ‘fan’ communities of Nintendo, it’s products, any associated companies through agreements or cooperation, and any of its third party development studios.”).

I really REALLY love running the Krystal Archive, talking to you guys, and seeing all the new art and fanworks, but this offer is just too good to pass up. However, I can’t just let the Krystal Archive go away. That’s why I’m putting out the call: I need someone to take over the Krystal Archive. I need someone to become the next Mr. Krystal. Can you do it? If you think you can, email me your experience with website design/development, any programming experience, your personal story of how you found out about Krystal and why you are a fan, and anything else you think will serve to show me that you are the right candidate for the job. You don’t have to send me your real name or anything like that yet, not unless I decide you’re the right person for the job.

Thanks guys! I may not be able to write or comment here for much longer, but no matter what, I will always keep an eye on it.

Update
As a special April Fool’s Day special, the imaginary representative from Retro Studios that I just made up in my head just now told me that I don’t have to agree to their conditions to work there, largely because they never called me in the first place. (BUT I did apply and am anxiously awaiting some kind of response from them. The best jokes have a large element of truth in them.)

Ok, I’m going to do some heavy maintenance. Stuff might break. I’ll have it back up as soon as I can. Don’t worry!

Update:
You haven’t noticed what I’ve done up until now, but what I accomplished today is truly huge, but still a secret. Now, my maintenance will, over the next hour or so, take ALL files, posts, and pages down temporarily. I’ll reduce the amount of time it’s down as much as possible.

Final Update:
I’ve finished my major maintenance. I shouldn’t have to do anything like that again for a few years! If you find any problems on any page or post, let me know. I’m going to be running the site through a link checker, probably tomorrow, just in case. I’m sorry I didn’t get updates that you could see, but trust me, today, I got some serious stuff done. Stuff that should have been done years ago! Tomorrow, I’ll try to get out more visible updates.
