Krystal Lovers Association Shutting Down
The Krystal Lovers Association (KLA), the world's largest Krystal-focused community forum, is shutting down at the end of 2012 after almost 10 years online. Eggman9713, the long-running admin, announced the shutdown back on June 28th. It basically comes down to losing interest over time and a lack of new Star Fox games. He's not sure what exactly will become of the site after it's shut down, musing that he might freeze the site from new posts, but leave it up as an archive for a while. You can read all about the reasoning and the plan for the shutdown in Eggman's End of Line post.
It was no more than 2 weeks after I created the Krystal Archive (having been a member of Starfox-Online for a few months prior) that I was contacted my a couple of high-profile members of the KLA and asked to join. Since then, for most of the years since, I've been an active member of the KLA community, and chatted with Eggman and many others at length. It was only recently that I have been neglecting the community. Nevertheless, the KLA will always stand in my memory as a great community and a historic location for the announcement of Krystal and Star Fox research (Star Fox Adventures in HD, finding unreleased artist renderings, etc).

The KLA had fan art? Didn’t know that… Anyway, sucks that they have been up for that long then suddenly shutting down
I’m sorry to see KLA go. Frankly, I blame Nintendo and the lack of focus they’ve given to the series. The same thing is basically happening with the Mega Man community after Capcom cancelled Mega Man Universe, Mega Man Legends 3, then included a butchered version of the Blue Bomber in Street Fighter X Tekken. Now I’ve had to turn my attention towards Sonic to fill the void in the meantime. Hrrrm. Mega Man… Sonic… Krystal… I guess I have a thing for blue characters. :p
But is there a chance of KLA ever coming back up again?
“turn [your] attention towards Sonic to fill the void in the meantime”? Why not ponies?

Mr. K approves!
@Mr. K.
Thanks for the KA mention, very much appreciate your kind words about the site! Your contributions were very valuable, and I was always a fan of the announcements and the other things you mention above.
@Kevin
Yup, we do! Also, according to Eggman9713, the KLA will exist as an archive after the end of the year, so you’ll still be able to see what’s currently there.
@Glitcher
I’m with you, I do blame Nintendo for a lot of it, games featuring Krystal generate buzz and get people talking. However, that being said, I also have to give credit to the KA, the artists, fanfic writers, 3D modelers, cosplayers, and the fans for realizing Krystal’s potential, and elevating her to an iconic status that goes beyond the games. If it wasn’t for all of us, she probably would have been just another game character.
I also agree with Mr. K and Eggman with the other reason being that over the years people change and move on to other things in life. I can’t blame people for that as I know what it’s like myself. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a big fan of Krystal’s, but alot has gone on in my life as well in my eight years as a KLA member. While I can’t speak for others, I can guess that it happens to them, too. But one thing is for sure, 10 years in existence is nothing to sneeze at in terms of a website, especially one dedicated to one character in one franchise. For that, I gotta thank Eggman9713, Squall2221, and the membership, past and present, wouldn’t have happened without them!
@Daniel
I don’t think so, but honestly, it’s not really my call.
