King K. Rool Mii Fighter DLC (and lots more) Released
Hours ago, Nintendo released some DLC they had promised just before E3, namely the Peach's Castle (64) and Hyrule Castle (64) stages. What was unexpected was a whole new round of Mii Fighter DLC costumes, one of which is free (K.K. Slider). King K. Rool, from the Donkey Kong series is officially released as both a head and suit costume for 75 cents.
The King K. Rool suit's significance is that he has been a requested character since Brawl, with a very similar popularity to Krystal. Now that he is being put in the game in the form of a Mii Fighter suit, that implies two things: Nintendo is still aware of long-time favorites, and King K. Rool's inclusion as a suit likely leaves open one more slot for Krystal as a fully-realized playable character. Of course, it could also mean that Krystal (and Wolf?) will show up as Mii Fighter suits, rather than new characters. No-one knows at this point, but I remain cautiously hopeful.

But no Krystal yet :(
Sakurai did say…
“From now on, it is going to be fan service, but I can’t keep the development team together forever, so there’s only going to be several more characters. I also ask for your patience, as we need time to develop more content.”
Meaning it will take time to develop these choices. He stated this in this in this interview: http://www.sourcegaming.info/2015/06/25/ryu-roy-and-lucas-join-the-battle-sakurai-famitsu-column-vol-481/ I know it’s more than likely pure coincidence that this interview came out the same day command was released for Eshop, but so was Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time. My theory is that wave 3 mii costumes was made up of ballot runner-ups. More than likely we’d be getting the confirmation of the first ballot contestants sometime in August, the middle of the ballot session. This obviously won’t be the last mii costume wave, but it might be the last one with potential ballot contestants. Not sure if I’m right, but I’m not sure if I’m wrong either. Only time, patience and determination will tell :)
With king k roll a mii fighter that means hes not the top vote anymore krystals chances rocket up thanks to the fan base in japan.
don’t know, but glad that some 64 stages are coming in.
I think it would be very stupid in Sakurai ‘ s part to make Wolf as a Mii Fighter costume instead of being a fully fledged DLC fighter. Think of the outrage from the fans because of that. I still think that he has a good chance of getting back in the roster as a DLC character especially with Starfox Zero coming out later this year and that he has been confirmed to be coming back in Zero.
As for Krystal, this actually boosted her chances for the time being which this could work in our favor for her to make the cut this time. I feel sorry for the DK fans who wanted K. Rool to be playable in Smash 4.
@Dragonheart07
That’s what I don’t get. Last patch, we got inkling costumes, and hardly anyone made that big of a deal about it. But just because of King K. Rool getting a costume, everyone gets skeptical and über cautious about their choices. I know not to trust “early ballot results” but in just about every one of them, King K. Rool was somewhere in the top 5. So to an extent I see why. But for all we know, he may have not even been to getting sakurai’s attention. We may never know. But about Wolf and Krystal, don’t think they’d be mii costumes. Wolf is the one of the last, if not THE LAST 1st party veteran people majorly care about. KRYSTAL IS one of the most, if not THE MOST requested characters for both female fighters and starfox reps. There are far too many supporters on Miiverse to let that slide. that’s Miiverse alone. I could go on and on about this, but i’m not the only one to voice their opinions on this topic.
Oops. Had caps on lock. I meant “Krystal is” not “KRYSTAL IS” :/
This does make me more hopeful for Krystal’s chances. Playing on the miiverse stage, I’ve seen plenty of art in support of her. Thanks Alfore!
It also makes me curious about the process of picking fighters from the ballet. K. Rool was a top pick, easily. For him to not get in shows that having a lot of votes does not guarantee a spot. We knew this already–if a character such as Goku were to get plenty of votes, he probably still wouldn’t make it in anyway. But Rool is a Nintendo character. So even a popular Nintendo character is given a free pass.
If moveset possibilities are a factor in getting in, Krystal has plenty of that. Staff power all day every day. She has the potential for the most unique moveset of all the space animals. That alone is a strength.
What makes me worried is whether the future of the Star Fox series determines if she will get in. If Nintendo never had anymore plans for her…well, then all the support for Krystal puts them in an awkward position. I hope that’s not the case.
@Xengo
Even if Krystal doesn’t appear in Starfox Zero, I have a feeling that she’ll be back in future SF entries in the series. After all, she has already established herself in the franchise and she’s a popular character. And to what is going on with Smash 4 DLC, I’m sure that we’ll get more DLC characters and after the K. Rool Mii fighter costume, this had boosted her chances by a lot.
Looking at the current character line-up I can easily see Krystal being added as a playable character. Series that have three or more playable characters in the game have a main hero, main female hero and finally a bad guy/rival. The Pokemon choices while having no gender mentioned still fits. So if they were to add a new Star Fox character Krystal best fits.
I don’t think Krystal being in Zero or not will effect her appearance chances in Smash. There already a number of characters that have not been in recent or upcoming games who are playable. Although with Amiibo support they can appear in some upcoming games which makes me want Krystal in Smash a lot more.
However I can also see Nintendo announcing just Mii costumes of Slippy, Peppy and Wolf. Which leaves us more in confusion as to what the situation with Krystal is. I would love comment from Nintendo about it. Even if it’s a bad excuse for her not being in Zero it’s better then what we got right now.
Krystal is populare and nintendo knows it they’ll find a spot for her in zero no matter how small.
The bigest dibate around krystal in smash is the final smash I say it should be flame command cloudrunner.
Tell you the God’s honest truth, I don’t really like the Miis. They’re kind of dumb looking, overly generic, and just a cheap substitute for actual characters. The funniest thing I ever did with one was make his face look like a man’s shlomo.
I really hope we don’t get a damn Mii suit for Krystal.
Nintendo of America have a survey up. They tweeted it on their official twitter. Some of the questions could easily add in comments regarding Krystal. Both relating to Smash bros and Star Fox Zero.
@AngelFoxDreamer
Interesting. Can you give me the link for it so I can check it out? At least I’m glad that they are making a big deal out of the SF series.
