Pigma’s appearance immediately told me that this is before Krystal. Because in the only game in which they did meet (assault) pigma’s corpse became enslaved by the aparoids. Miyamoto likes time warps. Look at Mario and Zelda for a minute. They do the same thing. Just a reminder that THIS IS NOT A REBOOT. Good day :)

Miyamoto has stated on multiple occasions that he doesn’t like being restrained by timelines. He focuses on making a good game first, then makes a story to go with it. Mario games are designed to not have a timeline at all. Zelda technically has multiple timelines, but they were kept secret until recently because they don’t want people thinking about them that way.

Anyway, the game is going to be great and with Platinum Games working on this, even better. They are also doing Transformers Devastation using characters from the 80s Generation 1 animated series. Man, can’t wait to get both Transformers and Starfox.

Yeah, I kinda thought Mario went through that because of the Yoshi’s Island series and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, but other than that I think Miyamoto might have a point. Most Mario games have no explanation behind them at all, and most Zelda games usually end up being a bit non-sensical at times. And people still play them. Some of his best titles aren’t remembered for story but rather gameplay. I think I see it :)

The Mario series sort of has a timeline. For example, Super Mario 64 takes place before Luigi’s Mansion, which takes place before Super Mario Sunshine, which is concurrent with Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
It’s a fuzzy timeline, roughly following game release order.
