I think we can expect to see this completed soon! In a few years maybe… But this looks super good, and I would love a Gaming PC so I could play this! I wonder if he’ll go back and upgrade some of the older levels. It’s so awesome that this is a thing!!!
@codym512s
I think it’ll still take a while to see the game actually being completed. There is still a lot to do, like voice acting, for instance.
Earlier you mentioned these SF wannabe-fanboys like JonTron. Don’t listen to them. His Stairfax Temperatures video is a joke as well as a disgrace. This guy needs to see a doctor asap. I don’t think I could enjoy his videos even if I was drunk and high at the same time. What these guys don’t get is, SFA never intended to be another SF 64 so why did they expect it to be? It was made very clear from the beginning that the game will cover a different genre. It would be okay to say you don’t like the game if you had good points to justify it, but what JonTron is doing is just unacceptable. He simply says: ‘This is not like SF 64. It’s stupid, so that’s why this is a bad game.’ You just cannot have a REAL TALK with these guys. They claim to be SF fans even though they only like one game of the entire series. So in actuality they are just SF 64 fans, that’s what it is. You can clearly see that at the end of his video where he says that SFA/Rare ‘might be the reason there really hasn’t been another SF game since’. Just another SF ‘fan’ not aware of Assault and Command, kind of sounds familiar, doesn’t it?. *cough* Anita Sarkeesian *cough*. Bottom of the line: Don’t listen to these guys. Just because they have many subscribers doesn’t necessarily mean they actually know what they’re talking about ;)
I don’t listen to criticks unless its about command hahah.
UPDATE: new boss has been added to starfox adventures 2.
@ Mr. Brownstone:
Yeah voice acting could take a LONG time. I think the script still needs to be finalized before that can happen. I’ve been practicing a voice for Wolf O’Donnell once in a while, I just have a very deep voice for my age but it still needs work.
I regret the bad things I said about them, I’m going to hope they get help. Jon is a political NIGHTMARE with a mouth. His friend P.B.G. is a little bit of a beater guy. I think he said he liked Star Fox Adventures once… “I kinda like it, it’s a lot like Zelda and I like Zelda so I like Star Fox Adventures.”-P.B.G.
Mat Pat lost ALL credit as a theorist a LONG time ago, and that’s before he messed up the Knights VS. Vikings VS. Samurai. He is just so juvenile, listen to all the Fifty Shades of Gray and other inappropriate jokes he makes… He tries to sound smart, but it comes off as stupid.
Bit Block is a group of people, but from what I heard from them they all have to similar of an opinion and you don’t get much perspective. It’s kinda sad for a news channel like them.
Gnoggin did a very good video dealing with the likes of Anita Sarkeesian. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmcIUP4Sc6o
From the beginning, Nintendo said that they wanted Star Fox to be more than just a space shooter. The characters were designed to be dynamic and fit in any type of game play. Some games are space shooters, but the plan was to have Star Fox be many types of games, some at Nintendo said they wished Star Fox would cover as many, if not more game types than Mario. But that one Star Fox 64 got the train moving… I enjoy playing SF64, but what it did to a good chunk of the fans, I’m going to be bold here, Star Fox 64 is the WORST GAME IN THE SIRES!!! Not the game play, story, levels, voice acting, or the GWAAAAFIX. Just how it impacted the fans in the way it did, the way it’s held up on a pillar like the best game ever when it’s just a good play through.
@codym512s
I know what you mean. The SF fanbase is so divided these days. A lot of them are not open for change. I honestly think this kind of attitude pretty much rubbed off on Miyamoto himself. Back in the day he was willing to experiment with the SF series. Nowadays, I’d be more than surprised if we actually got another game similar to SFA.
@ Mr. Brownstone:
Yeah, It’s almost as split as the traditional controls VS. motion controls. (I prefer Motion because the Wii was my family’s first console since the Atari 5200 and 800XL PC with a built-in 64Kb RAM. Both were gone when I got in to gaming. The reason we even got the Wii was because it was a TRUE console, a fun and unique experience that can not be had on anything else you can just pick up and play at any time.) That is true, Mat Pat has been yelling “GAMERS DON’T WANT INNOVATION!!! WE WANT MORE GRAPHICS AND MORE GAMES!!!” for a good while now. I know Nintendo has been saying that they want to do “new” things like a “new” open world Mario game, but it’s just what N64 fanboys have been complaining and whining about since Mario Galaxy. That’s wrong, Super Mario Galaxy is one of the the most CREATIVE platform games of all time! Also, it and it’s squeal is one of my favorite games of all time along side (maybe a bit beater) my newest game, Final Fantasy IX. Calming down now, I think Miyamoto should listen to these words. “Please yourself, and you’ll please others. But, if you try to please other without pleasing yourself, you will please none.” I don’t know who said that, but it’s a nice quote.
MOAR GRAFFICS XD !!!
But seriously, I believe that everyone has his opinions about his standards of any game. I mostly like the gameplay (and some nice animations that doesn’t break the imersion), somebody else might like the story, or the polygons etc. But, what I hate like is when someone believes that a game that I like is bad, just because he didn’t had a good experience or hasn’t the same opinions with me and he’s trying to force me to change my mind (S7arf0x 64 i5 7h3 b35t m8. 3v3ry7h1n6 3l53 15 n0n c4n0n b5!!!) .
Ex: I love Command, It is one of my favorite gameplays (Is not a masterpiece but is a good game overall). I think that most of you don’t have a positive opinion because it seems that you got a bit salty about the story and didn’t get what you expected,
(I’m also dissapointed about Krystal’s character in the game, but I’m not gonna cry about it, jeez!), and it seems that nobody is interested in the game (well I think, since nobody has claimed that he/she played the game, from what I concluded or you didn’t need to say it).
Whenever the game, just try it for a bit. Ussually if you’re gonna like any game, you will be hooked from the beginning.
If not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, do what you want.
I think you are on to something… I know Command was a flop, but what did it do right? I never played the game, but using the toutch screen for flying might work for a mobile game. Decision making effecting the next level rather than how you finish can be a good step. Maybe both, how you finish can rule-out or add to the choices you can make at the end of a level. Also some of the endings are kinda cool, Star Fox: The Next Generation. I know people might be upset at a Star Fox game where Fox is not the main character, but he will still be in it. Maybe if he dies, he can be a ghost like James and help the younger generation. I also know a lot of people don’t like Kursed. Just change her orgin story to something less sad, like “Krystal, I forgave you for betraying us. By doing that, you saved our lives. The people who make fun of you are wrong and I don’t want it to get you down. But, if it’s too much for you to take insults like that, you have my permission to leave the team for a while until we can clean your name. I’m not forcing you off, I want you to make your own decision.”-Fox.

@codym512s
Okay listen up. What do I like about Command?
First of all I finally get the opportunity of playing every single charracter in the campain (finally!!! No fox only).
Second I believe the controlls are great (you just need to invert the up-down movement and with the stylus, you have an instand joystick (is not the best but it does the work when you get used to it). I do want to try the rumble pack, but I remember a product named
“EZ-Flash 3in1” whitch is gba (ds or ds lite) card with a gba flashcard, Memory Expansion Pak and a rumble pack (I do wan’t to get one in my hands soon…
Thirdly I think you need more skill than the other starfox games (minus sfa since you don’t fly a lot), because you are doing something something more than just point and shoot. I lke the map where you can strategize you’r movements and trying to make those perfect runs, and avery single member has his expertees (don’t use slippy for the missles he does’t have a charge shot with lock on, for a hard mode, avoid using it).
Also the music is great.
The only thing that sucks is the story. I like the groundhog day like storyline of the game, but I have some complains, but Krystal, oh boy… They’re some things to said but what is pissing me off is the following:
During her time away from team Starfox, she decided to spend her time becoming a better pilot (the way she did it, that’s an other story). At one point, she returns because Fox out of desperation wants to put krystal in danger yet again even though this is the the reason he made her left (make up your mind!).
But, when she joins, her outfit, changes from a fighter pilot, to something that is no I would approve as “flight suitable” and more like “whistle”. They made her stand out from the team not for her skills but for her appearance!!! (And the excact same thing happend on Assault). Now this bothers me, but you might don’t give a crap about it, but I feel like Fox is some kind of a pervert towards Krystal and counting Assault and Adventures, I think it might might be the case (I want to ship them in my heart but my logic thinks otherwise) . And the fact that her fighter in the team is better that the other one, it forces you to play as her.
I do want to continue my thoughts but, I want to hear out the opinions from you guys about it.
@Jimaki
You know my thoughts on Command’s story by now ;)
In terms of gameplay I actually like it as well. It has this tactical approach to it. Still, it has a depressing vibe going on, something that never occurred in the other SF games (at least IMO). Most of the endings are not satisfying and raise even more questions.
When it comes to Krystal, I say it again: The only thing I like about her in Command is the fact that she improved her piloting skills. Her judgement is terrible though. In SFA and Assault she seemed to be kind of a wise person for her age. In those games it was pretty easy to tell that she symbolizes a different culture. In Command NOTHING from her roots remained, except her blue fur. I’m glad they didn’t change that as well, I mean, look at Katt. I have an interesting question: Would you like Krystal if Command was the only game she appeared in? Let’s say they’d given her a little introduction before the prologue (without mentioning her telepathic powers as she never uses them in the game) but the rest pretty much remained the same, including her personality. Would you like her? I know that I wouldn’t since everything that made her interesting was removed in Command.
Lastly, Fox being a pervert? Why do you think that? I mean, yeah, he ogled her from head to toe in SFA but I don’t think he forced her to wear certain outfits. Isn’t it possible that she chose those outfits herself? In her culture, wearing revealing outfits was probably considered normal anyway. I rather think the outfit she wore in the Cornerian military was forced on her. To me, she mainly stands out because of her unique abilities as well as her roots, not her appearance. I like her basic design but even if she appeared naked, having her Command personality and no unique abilities, I would not like her as a character :D
@Mr. Brownstone
I’d have to be inclined to agree with you that I wouldn’t like the character either if she only appeared in command and didn’t have her abilities. To me she’s not really the same character without them and is much of the reason I like the character personally. If I were to classify it I’d put her at 25% for using a staff because I always liked staff users in games with a melee-ish style(even though we never get to see her use it, we all know she knows how).
Another 25% for her abilities, because telepathic characters are severely under rated and I always felt a certain draw to characters that can perform said abilities, it’s akin to Star Wars Jedi, which I always loved when I was growing up. So she’s basically a magical staff wielding Jedi which is one of the most awesome things ive ever heard of. I’d also like to see more done focusing on her powers in the future because we just don’t know what she can do because every game after the first her “powers” became more and more non-existent.
And lastly, her looks at 50%. Don’t get me wrong she looks great in all her games, excluding command, she just looks off to me in that game and her story(another aspect of the character that desperately needs attention)in that game didn’t help my desire to play it. Looks are not entirely what draw me to a character.
@jimaki
I didn’t play command because I read the things that Krystal said and did and it felt to me like she was a completely different character. I looked at her and went who are you? I didn’t recognise the character I was reading into in all the endings. A telepathic empath reads feelings and would know that fox is only doing the things he’s doing for her own protection and she would also feel that emotion. The story in that game was just a mess, especially the bad Krystal endings.
I don’t doubt the game plays well and all that. I just can’t get myself to give the game the time of day to play because the writing is just so bad. I do add a lot of stock in Krystal’s story specifically now because she never got the characterisation she deserved in the past and command seemed like a slap in the face to Krystal fans altogether. I own the game on Wii u(never owned a 3ds, I don’t really play handhelds, another reason I probably wouldn’t have liked her if that was the only game she was in) virtual console because… starfox. I just never touch it.
As for fox being a pervert, yes he did kinda lol her up and down in adventures but that was just rares way of saying he thought that Krystal was pretty and just couldn’t stop looking at her and that’s why they had peppy interrupt him to get him back on the mission :p. in assault everything is pretty normal I don’t know why you think he’d be a pervert in that game, by all standards I didn’t really see any point on the game where you can call fox a pervert. There’s the “this isn’t a conversation for children” cutscene on Sauria but that doesn’t really say anything about fox being perverted. If your referring to her outfit I think that’s her best outfit in the franchise as much as I do like her adventures appearance(which gives us a clue to her heritage and I do still want to know more about that), her assault appearance still has the most “class” in the eyes of the players and doesn’t raise as many questions.
@Smokey
There is simply no believability in Krystal’s character development from Assault to Command. It is reasonable to be upset after a break-up but not to that extent. Especially considering the fact that she went through something WAY worse with the loss of Cerinia and was able to stay calm and deal with it. If she had gone nuts after that incident I wouldn’t even blame her but she didn’t. That clearly showed her mental strength. And after that they want me to believe that a break-up/Fox kicking her off the team would cause such a crucial change in her character (basically a 180)? Just like you said, as a telepath she should have been able to sense Fox’s good intentions. Same goes for the default ending when she comes back but leaves again after a couple of months because Fox wouldn’t express his feelings; feelings she should haven been able to pick up with her powers. And even without using her powers she should have known that Fox is shy and would never do the first step anyway.
As far as gameplay goes I already said that I actually like it even though I haven’t played it in a while. Having the other guys as playable characters in the story was refreshing as well. I still prefer Assault’s gameplay though but that’s a personal thing. Another thing I don’t like about Command is the fact that there is no voice acting or proper cut scenes. These things can make a huge difference to properly express certain events.
All in all I just can’t consider Command a good game as the gameplay (still nothing above average IMO, yet enjoyable) can’t make up for the REALLY bad story and characterisation. To me, these things are very important as a lot of you already know.
@Mr. Brownstone
Trust me, if I knew Krystal only from Command, I wouldn’t be in the site from in the first place.
I don’t believe Krystal had whore those outfits just because is a cultural thing.
What I’m going to say it might be wrong but we will see.
From what I get, Krystal has been living in Sauria since her childhood (it doesn’t seem to have left from there). Also she’s one of kind over there and they’re dinosaurs… All of this has created a tribal like lifestyle. I believe, that she has a naive nature just because she didn’t go out to the real world, she have no experience. And people of this character are very prone to follow other people (and potentially being manipulated).
So, about Fox. Why I believe he might is a Pervert?. We need to think logically. He just found out the most beautiful girl that he had seen in a while. I don’t know what person will let that opportunity to go away (Oh god, what I’m thinking,*childhood ruined*). And because Krystal was portrayed as a “trophy”, since the game doesn’t show her character to Fox (I did not finished the game, I might missed something, and no spoilers please). So when fox is seeing her, trapped in the crystal, His expression is either “Omg, I found my woman of my life!” or “Omg, I found the girl I’m going to put to the bed this night!” (*throws up*). I might be going overboard on this.
And so on, Krystal joined the team, to show her deep gratitude for saving her life (also only chance to leave Sauria). You know Fox could have said no, because you can’t just pick an inexperienced stranger to the team. So there’s a reason. Also he could just give her a simple jump suit, but he went all in to please his eyes. She would had absolutely no complains about it, since she didn’t realized the reason Fox chose the outfit.
So I think in Command, Krystal finally realized that she got hustled all this time, and I’m going to say that she found out the life outside Sauria. So, I believe that her behavior is just the fact that she became a “sly fox” (or vixen, I couldn’t find the exact translation), and she doesn’t want to see Fox ever again. And along with other mistakes of hers possibly the reason she became Kursed.
(I would call this phenomenon “stereotypical behavior of women’s in my country” XD)
And what about her powers?
Well, either they’re drained out while she was in the crystal and run out in Command or It might was based on the purity of her soul. And where is her freaking staff?!
This is what I came up.
@Jimaki
Krystal was not raised on Sauria. She came there because of the distress signal. This signal was sent by the EarthWalker inside Krazoa Palace, probably not long before she arrived on the planet. She doesn’t seem to know much about the planet’s history either since that EarthWalker has to tell her everything. The reason she speaks their language is probably her telepathy. We don’t even know if the language Fox and the others speak is her native language.
*Spoiler*: At the end of SFA Krystal uses the same ship the SharpClaw used on Ice Mountain to drop off Tricky. So she actually had another way to leave Sauria. If she was really raised there and found a new family and life, why would she even leave in the first place? The reason she joined the team, apart from showing her gratitude, is she had nowhere to go and didn’t consider Sauria as her new home. When we first see her on the CloudRunner she has probably been on the planet for a week tops. Her ship was either stolen by the SharpClaw and they gave it back to her in the end or her own ship got destroyed and the ship she has later is indeed a SharpClaw ship. Either way, it says she travelled through the galaxy before arriving on Sauria, so the Cerinians probably had basic technology.
I think Krystal’s looks definitely played a certain role when it comes to Fox’s decision to let her join the team. He could have just brought her to Corneria to start a new life. I still think he saw potential in her though. Not to mention they needed a replacement for Peppy as an active pilot.
When it comes to her outfit in Assault: Again, what makes you think that Fox chose it and not Krystal herself? If Fox really had some bad intentions she would have sensed it as her powers were still existent by the time of Assault.
To me, Fox is an ordinary guy when it comes to attractive women. He is shy but certainly has his ‘drives’. That doesn’t make him a pervert. He even sent her away for her safety. At least he was honest with her. She was the one who betrayed him and the team, yet according to her, he is the one to apologize. Figure that one out.
If there is any pervert in the SF universe, it’s Panther. He is one of those guys who pretend to be a gentleman and make compliments to get a certain ‘treatment’ in return. However, we don’t know anything about him so I won’t accuse him of stuff I have no evidence for.
Krystal’s staff? Some people think it was aboard the Great Fox and got destroyed when it exploded in Assault.
PS: I don’t think the KA would even exist if it was only for Command ;)
@ Jimaki:
Sorry if i sounded offensive toward SF Command. But if you look in the comment, I did say some good things about Command despite not playing. (Controls, decision making, some endings are OK.) The reasons you gave are good too in some ways. Fox’s personality in this game is just a sissy. If Fox had that personality in Assault, he wouldn’t last 5 minutes…
(LOOKS AT REST OF COMMENTS)
WHAT THE FLYING FRENCH FLIPPIN’ FLAPJACKS HAPPENED HERE!!!!!
FOX? A PERVERT?!?!?! WHAT’S A “PERVERT”!?!?!?
@All
What did I get myself into?
P.S.
I know what a pervert is, I just wish I didn’t…
@codym512s
Haha, welcome to the 21st century. Don’t worry, we’re still having a serious and appropriate conversation.
@Jimaki
Also, if Fox was a pervert and had some saying in Krystal’s choice of clothing, don’t you think she would have still worn her outfit from SFA later in Assault? ;) Just kidding, she needed an actual flight suit, I know.
@ Mr. Brownstone
Thanks. “Welcome to the 1980’s, Sam! We’ve been waiting for you!”-Max, the hyper active rabbit-like thing.
I personally think Krystal might of chose her outfit. “At first I was afraid it would be too tight, but this suit is just so stretchy and comfortable! I love it!”-Krystal, Reflections of Krystal. If I could change it, I would just give her a less eye-catching breast-plate. Rather that two circles, a peanut shape would work!
@ Mr. Brownstone
Lol yeah going from the loss of your home world like “meh”. To a breakup and going what the freak I hate you all and I’m going to kill you. Priorities Krystal puhlease.
My big question for you guys is. If Krystal had been living there for a large portion of her life. Where did her staff come from? Is it the one thing she had with her from Cerinia? or did she find it on Sauria? The way it folds implies technology which in a sense would also imply Cerinia, but it could also be a relic from an ancient race from Sauria in the past. What do all you guys think?
@Smokey
It’s pretty much confirmed that she didn’t spend a lot of time on Sauria. At the beginning of the game it specifically says she received a distress signal while travelling through Lylat. That’s when she actually entered the planet to investigate. When she arrives at Krazoa Palace it seems like the events causing the distress signal happened quite recently. That’s why I think she hadn’t been on the planet for too long at that point.
When it comes to her staff, I really don’t know. If it was indeed Cerinian, why did it work so perfectly on Sauria? I mean, even the gems on Sauria worked to refill the magic. Maybe Sauria and Cerinia had some ties. Krystal was able to channel the Krazoa’s power after all. Then again, she doesn’t seem to know much about that stuff when the EarthWalker tells her the ‘basics’. I think that Cerinia had at least a similar magical force holding the planet together as well as similar magic in general used for their kind of technology.
Wouldn’t it be nice to actually get a SFA reimagining that answered all those questions? Unlike SF 64, this game needs one, especially in terms of story and the plot holes. Not to mention Krystal’s unsatisfying role…
@All
Whoa! I can’t believe that everything hasn’t gone out of control, I though that you would roast me or something by saying those things. I think calling Fox like that might be an exaggeration (or a translation error). I was thinking that Fox is not exactly the guy who is ready to make a family
(I guess I need to see that ending in Command tho see what changed on him). But you know what, I just wan’t to forget about it and what happent in those games and have a new beggining in the story department.
@ Mr. Brownstone
I know that she wasn’t there for a long time because it pretty much implies it in the intro. I was only asking as a what if scenario(kinda digging for ideas to reintroduce the character to the franchise because I have been working on a project on the side related to it xD). The evidence is also there from the earthwalkers still reeling from the attack before you got there. But I don’t remember if it is very clear who attacked them before you got there or if it was just General Scales before you got there. It would also be nice if they showed you what happened before the galleon fight because you just kind of appear riding Kyte in the intro with no mention of where you came from. You’re totally right though… the in-game evidence is there to imply that she was only there for a brief period of time. That game really does need a good remake/re-imagining now that I think of it! xD
Here is my personal take on the staff. I think that Cerinian’s visited the planet as some sort of rite of passage to learn more about channeling elemental energy and the Krazoa spirits. I also think that they designed it around the planets energy and used it as another tool to focus the energy of the spirits. Now I do think that Cerinia was highly likely to be at least somewhat similar to Sauria and may have smaller ties to the Krazoa spirits/elemental energy, but not as much as Sauria.
@Jimaki
We will keep this civil as much as possible. We’re all here for the same reasons! Constantly roasting each other all the time does nothing for us or Krystal as a whole. It’s probably not that Fox doesn’t want to start a family or anything like that, it’s probably more-so that everytime he could get any time to think about starting a family the universe is in trouble kind of a deal happens and he can’t really think about it and needs to focus on more important things like there even being a universe/lylat system, that’s just the feeling I got about the character from reading the comics/playing the games. lol
And yeah I totally agree. Zero is a good start to the new storyline and an adventures re-imagining would get a lot of attention after Zero flopped. I am sure it would do a LOT better than Zero did. The 64 remake train has been long overdone and even I won’t buy another remake of 64… and thats saying something… I buy everything star fox related. lol
