Mixed feelings about Krystal as an assist trophy. It’s great she’s finally in smash in some form, but unfortunately it’s not as a playable character.
Holding out for DLC or Mods.
How do you know that’s an assist trophy? what is she aiming at?
bitter sweet. At least we need Katt Monroe as a playable character, I would love to use her alongside Ryu.
There’s a depressing, crushing finality about this. Her model is SO perfect here it’s heartbreaking.

Why are you guys so unhappy about this? I’m so happy that Krystal is even in the game at all. This proves that Nintendo hasn’t abandoned her. I can get this game with full joy knowing that I can fight along side Krystal. :) Finally.
Aw, pooh. Not playable, huh? Oh, well, at least she’s being acknowledged for once. Makes me hold out hope that the next Super Smash Bros. game that she finally becomes playable (like Little Mac and Charizard, for example). Also makes me hold out hope that she will appear in the next, or a future, Star Fox game, and may possibly be playable in that.
I hope Krystal gets DLC in the future. I mean, I’m happy she’s finally getting worked on after a long time and recognition for what should be a actual fighter instead of a assist trophy. Ok not the way we hoped but it’s something than nothing. Still, here’s hoping the future of DLC and the next Star Fox game for her fabulous return.

I know I’m stating the obvious when I say that all of the character sprites have been remade so that they’re more detailed, but has anyone noticed how Krystal’s character sprite bears resemblance to some of GreyFireFox’s/CakeInferno’s earlier versions of his Krystal rig. It also resembles SchattenKitsune666’s Krystal rig somewhat as well.
Hey, Mr. K, if you see this, do you think you can reach out to the two of them and see if Nintendo decided to use their models for her? I’m dying to know! XD
What?!, she is just an assist trophy? The whole point is we have been wanting her as a playable character in a Super Smash Bros for over 10 years and Nintendo is still not listening. I know I’ve been quiet for 2 years now but it’s been hard. When Nintendo revealed the last 2 DLC characters for Super Smash Bros for 3DS and Wii U, I broke down. It’s just hard for big Krystal fans like me to move on. I knew it would take me a while to get over it, and I think I’m still not. Let’s hope Nintendo does make her playable instead of just an assist trophy because the game doesn’t come out til December but I doubt it. They never listen no matter how hard we fight for her and they never cared about Krystal since Star Fox Adventures. It makes me mad that they add a 6th character from Fire Emblem but won’t add another Star Fox character like Krystal. 4 characters from a franchise is already enough don’t you think.

@astrofan1993, Nintendo probably has access to the original 3d models from Adventures. From the looks of it my guess is that they pulled the assets from SFA and touched it up a little (the fastenings on her back, tail and leg straps look like they’re brand new models/textures).
Well I am bummed a bit that she is an assist trophy. But it could have been worse. At least she does sppear in some form. I have been wanting her to be playable since the days of Brawl. But anyway there is always a next time for her in a future Smash game along with a future Starfox game for sure. After all if Nintendo was able to include Little Mac into Smash from being an Assist Trophy to a playable character, then what is stopping them to include Krystal in the future as a playable character. At least Wolf and Snake are back so I am happy with that.
i know that she not going to be a main fighter but as a asst. trophy. i think i remember saying that during the request characters for brawl or something like that.
God Dang Finally! Even though I’m a tiny bit disappointed she’s just an assist trophy, she finally gets some recognition.
Here’s hoping they can upgrade it later to a full fledged playable character!

I didn’t expect to see that happen, but I’m glad she sure did appear after all! And I think it would be better if she were more of a playable character instead.
You know how if you were turning 16 and have been working on getting your license all year, and your parents said they’d get you a car, and the next thing you know they show up with an RC car and no actual plans to get you a car?
That’s the kind of disappointment this is. They gave us an RC car.

It could’ve been a lot worse. Like samurai Goroh from F-Zero, she could’ve just appeared out of the item and starting swinging wildly. instead she moves around the stage using magic abilities from her staff and if you get too close she will do a combo attack to send you flying. She’s no Waluigi stopping the enemies completely making it easy to rack up damage but still really useful.
I’m glad she is able to move at all instead of teleporting around the stage. Only gripe I have is that she is running around in that loin cloth. Remember in Brawl, Little Mac was an assist trophy too before he got a new game a year later and spark up some popularity.

She’s animated pretty nicely. I think they did a good job. It’s a nice nod to the original game keeping her in the old costume. I’m certainly grateful that they managed to put her on at all. As the others said, Lil Mac started as an assist trophy. So her chances have increased greatly.
I’m also still holding out hope for a second F-zero character and Issac from GoldenSun (or maybe one of the other characters) even though they have so many sword fighters now. Someday maybe…LOL. I can’t help it. :D
You know what? Now I feel bad that the Switch is getting some action because I bought one as birthday gift for my brother this year. Weeelll…I feel bad that I don’t have one too! I’m still trying to catch up on the Wii and WiiU. :s
Once again Sakurai disappoints me and crushes my dreams again, well at least she got recognized and made it in Sma5h in one way besides being a regular trophy. As much as i like to see Sakurai do a last minute switch he won’t once he decides the roster it stays like that till next the next game. Let’s not forget as to why he say’s why Waluigi won’t be in due to him not actually being in a main game and fans unhealthy obsession towards him, he already added Ridley in due fans not shutting up about it and had to scale him down and looks really weird now at short height.
I’d like to point something out here. In the entire video where she is revealed, nowhere is an assist trophy item shown. Also as another thing, nowhere does Fox or anyone grab an assist trophy and she pops out of it.
People who are saying she’s an assist trophy are just assuming that based on what is likely. For all we know, she’s a playable character and will be announced either as A: Paid DLC, or B: As a surprise announcement closer to launch.
That said, I also think she’s more likely to be an assist trophy as it’d be surprising if they just made her playable. Is she an assist trophy or a playable character, we won’t know until the game’s launch and until all DLC is announced. The fact that you don’t see an assist trophy item in the trailer (Fox’s section in particular), and the fact that she is standing there (for the most part) leads me to conclude that there is a chance she is a playable character.
Here’s hoping I am right and that she becomes playable because she’d be fantastic.

We’ve seen her be an assist trophy on the official Nintendo stream twice. Some Nintendo Treehouse members specifically said she was an assist trophy.
Doesn’t rule out the possibility of Echo character status. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Don’t forget that the appearance was only the Demo which they put together for E3. There’s always the possibility that Sakurai will change things up a little before the game is released.
I won’t be surprised if she is an Assist Trophy, but I do still have hope that she might come in as an Echo Fighter in the future.
If she doesn’t, then there is one benefit of her being an Assist Trophy, it means that she might either come in near the end of Smash Brothers Ultimate or perhaps as playable character in the Smash Brothers that’ll surely come in the future.
