Star Fox Zero – The Battle Begins Film Posted
I missed the livestream due to an appointment, but I'm about to start watching it not-live! In the meantime, Nintendo has posted the direct source version of the Star Fox Zero short film.

If they made a new 30min-1hr long episode every week…. Man you better not be watching nothing when Star Fox comes on….
I mean, for real, I would have to go get the VCR out of the garage and start taping them.
Very good! Animation was great, personalities were very true to the games and it’s good to see them on off time, the humor was pretty funny, art stile is a LOT like the Star Fox: Lylat Legacy comic, and the story isn’t bad and there is a lot they can do with it! If you listen closely you can hear Slippy mention Sauria.
Since Slippy mentioned Sauria, who wants to bet that the next game will have Krystal in it?
@StarDog Smasher
I feel if they just left Sauria that this means this game is in between Adventures and Assault. So the next game could be a new Assault, or if it’s another in between game, maybe between Assault and Command? Just spit balling ideas out there. Glad to hear the words Sauria though, means they do want to keep it in the story line =]. Heck after seeing this, it makes me feel like this isn’t even a re imaging in the way we though, it just looks like part of the story line right between the two games, just with a different art style.
Hey, think there’s any chance that’s Katt at 1:22. Also the civilians aren’t speaking English, which is fine because getting that many people for all the side characters would be a pain =].
@Happylion18
If that’s the case, then why is the game set in the Lylat Wars aka N64? It’s impossible for the team to know Dinosaur Planet aka Sauria before Adventures. My bet is that they brought it up to make sure that the world, Krystal and other characters introduced in and after Adventures aren’t being put aside.
The anime was good, I’ll definently watch on tv if they release a series. But I need to rewatch later, to find more references and easter eggs.Also check the treehouse event.
My moneys on krystal.
Starfox never went to sauria in the lylat wars time line till now they must have been there after destroying robo andross, stoping krystal from geting traped or they got there before krystal which means they havn’t met yet.
I saw katt in the vid atleast twice.
I would guess that the anime was meant for promotional reasons and not as an accurate part of the storyline. It was probably meant to cram in as much references to other games in series as possible. Still I like to think that with how prominent the mention of Sauria is it’s actually a hint of Star Fox Adventures remake.

“Starfox never went to sauria in the lylat wars time line till now”
How did you come to that conclusion? Is there any proof in previous Star Fox games that the Star Fox team NEVER went to Sauria before the Adventures conflict?
question what device did andross “dare to rebuild”?
I only know two portal devices in the starfox franchise, the orbital gate and the old worp gate in secter x (lylatwars).
@N J FOX
My guess is it’s a time machine. A simple warp machine wouldn’t be that scary. If Andross had a device that could transport powerful weapons to different points in time that would be scary. It could also be used to explain multiple endings in Command. If the Anglers found the technology they could have manipulated certain events. Which explains the sudden changes in personality and why different events take place. True ending to Command might be one where James McCloud destroys the time machine before it can be created. That goes into fanfic territory though.
@N J FOX
It’s a teleportation device. We’ve already been told that teleporters (as a technology) are significant to the story of Star Fox Zero, and were the reason why Andross was banished in the first place.
An interview from Time ( http://time.com/4245215/starfox-wii-u/ ):
There’s a dimension-hopping, narrative-bending plot involving teleporters
“We designed the game in a way that you play through the map the first time and you get to the end and you defeat Venom,” says Miyamoto, referring to the final enemy planet. “At that point, the teleporters become very important from a gameplay perspective. You’ll have perfected your own skill and then you’ll use those teleporters to find new routes through the map. Even if you’re not paying particular attention to the story, finding those different routes and playing through the map will help you understand the character relationships and the role that the teleporters play.”
@AngelFoxDreamer
A time mechine? no way not even andross can generate enough juice to power something like a time mechine, portals sure but time travels beyond even andross, unless the cerinians had such tech.
Andross got rid of them and singled out krystal for a reason.
@MR Krystal
You make a point, in assult corneria had the orbitale gate perhaps they used a prototype on andross. can’t wait to unlock these mysterys tomarrow, unfortunetly my game plays gona be late cause I have work.
@N J FOX
Andross is a giant floating head with two floating hands and he can talk and breathe in space. I don’t think being realistic and grounded is a huge concern when it comes to Andross. So I wouldn’t worry about him not having power needed for a time machine. If it some sort of time machine then he will randomly have the power for it.
@AngelFoxDreamer
It’s an interesting theory, but what evidence do you have that it’s a time travel device?
If I’m not mistaken, didn’t Krystal land on Sauria (Dinosaur Planet) in response to a distress signal she received–and that’s when the Sauria crisis seen in Star Fox Adventures began? It’s possible the Star Fox crew may have visited there beforehand in this version of the story seen in the video.
Then again, it’s also entirely possible that they only included the mentioning of “Sauria” as a nod to the previous games (that is if we consider this particular video to be non-related to the game’s canon).
It could go either way, so I’m not going to bank too much on it. Still, I was caught off-guard when Slippy mentioned it.
@Mr. Krystal
If it is just a teleportation device they seem to be making a huge deal about it. Assuming this may have been one of the reasons Andross was banished there has to be something more to it then just a device that can teleport stuff. It would also explain why alternate routes appear after completing the game. It may have been caused by Andross trying to alter the timeline to ensure victory. It would also explain the appearance of the boss during first level. Andross would have sent a powerful ship to prevent Star Fox’s initial victory. However I also think this is borderline fanfic territory in parts. It possibly is some sort of time machine but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was just a teleportation device. It just would be more interesting if it was some sort of time machine.
This is really good! My only complaint is that it seems to suffer from the same problem the cutscenes from Sonic Adventure 2 had: They weren’t redone to fit English. I’m assuming a Japanese version of this exists, and naturally this was made primarily by Japanese-speaking people.
Other than that, I love how there’s more personality to the cast than I remember. They have great chemistry, though I wonder exactly how long someone would put up with being the cleaning crew the way Peppy does. For some reason, I really like seeing that characters I admire are sort of a slob; I guess that’s because it gives them flaws, and nobody likes a flawless character. A bit… easy, as far as picking flaws to assign to characters, but when you have a bunch of young guys assuming great responsibilities, making the bridge a little trashy is kind of what you’d expect.
Also, if I’m not mistaken, are those children’s toys on the bridge of the Great Fox? I don’t recall any mention of children having been on board.
@Mr. Krystal
Just a quick update but I’m now pretty certain it is a time portal. When you redo missions certain lines don’t make sense unless it is a time portal.
