On September 29th, 2026, a free update is coming for Star Fox for the Nintendo Switch 2.

It includes:

• Split Screen Battle Mode - Up to four players on one screen.
• Three new Battle Mode stages featuring new play modes.
  • Katina - Gain platform control and laser attack other platforms.
  • Sector X - Dodge energy waves while shooting the most asteroids.
  • Venom - Scan data points, then escape before they attack.
• Split Screen Four Player Online Battle Mode - Couch co-op against online opponents.

These features join the existing Battle Mode options for Star Fox for the Nintendo Switch 2. All online features require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

This was shown off as part of the September 9th Nintendo Direct, which also showed off a Metroid Ravenous, Kirby and the World Beyond, and re-releasing Star Fox Adventures for Nintendo Switch Online.
