Nintendo T-Shirt Contest Allows Star Fox Entries
Have an epic Krystal or Star Fox T-Shirt idea? UNIQLO is running a huge contest for a Nintendo t-shirt design, and it's being judged by Mr. Miyamoto himself. The winning design gets $10,000 (and a chance to spread our love of Star Fox). Head over to UNIQLO to find out rules and how to enter. The FAQ specifically calls out that allowed entries may feature characters from "the Star Fox series".

I have some great ideas of how Krystal can be advertised through t-shirt design. It’s just I don’t want to travel. So is it ok that I share my ideas and let you guys make something.
I think this contest is a good way to show support for Krystal. I hope to make a nice design featuring both Fox and Krystal.
@LucasJG1994
Looking at the rules a group can enter. So if you don’t want to travel you could team up with someone who won’t mind.
@AngelFoxDreamer
That’s a great idea. I know why don’t we KA for a group and have Mr. K go for us. What do you think Mr. K
form*
I just made a loud whooping sound in the middle of Walmart…
@LucasJG1994
You go right ahead and enter. Even if you win, you don’t HAVE to travel to the award ceremony. I would be willing to go in your place, but I would rather you go. Just go ahead and enter. We can worry about what to do about travel when you win.
were do I sign?
@Mr. K
Ok thanks, just one thing. I’m pretty sure i have to put down the name of the person on the form so do I enter your code name “Mr Krystal”. Plus do I need to put your address.
@Mr. K
Or can I input my info and put you down as the one who will be at the ceremony
@LucasJG1994
Like I said, you enter as you. If you win, we will all get together and work out the details of who goes where and what happens. There’s only two grand prizes, I’m certain they can move things around if they need to.
As much as I love Krystal, I also want $10,000. If I do a shirt, it will probably have Fox McCloud on there at the very least. Mostly, and I’m just being real here, unless UNIQLO has some serious furries on their staff, I don’t think Krystal is relevant enough to win.
@the Falcon
You maybe right about the staff not having an interest in Krystal, but don’t forget that what they are looking out for is design not characters. So if we could have Krystal drawn in a way of a pattern or some kind of graphic illustration that has meaning. That’s all you need really.
@the Falcon @LucasJG1994
That and also if they only meant for you to use certain characters from each series they would have said so. They actually left it really open only stating series. Nothing in the rules or FAQ that would stop you from entering say a Prince Tricky design. The only problem I can think of is in the final round as Nintendo are the judges. If you do a good design though it has a good chance of getting to Nintendo. So even if it doesn’t win they will take note that someone has done a T-shirt design of said character. On top of that there isn’t a restriction on how many designs you can enter. So even if you don’t think a Krystal design would win you could still enter one but then do another one aimed at winning.
@AngelFoxDreamer
Perfect. A+
I know I’d like to make a shirt that plays on the return of Crystal Pepsi… Krystal Pepsi, anyone?
I’m only throwing these out there in case anyone wishes to get involved but cannot think of anything. Bare in mind just based on the rules, some of these might not work.
-A very subtle sandwich joke
-A blatant, yet clever reference to baneposting (a lot of royalty for a hired gun, or in Krystals case “Quite dedicated for a hired gun”)
-As Falcon mentioned, a Crystal Pepsi reference
-A Crystal Geyser reference
-Animal Crossing/Star Fox: Fox, Falco, Krystal, Slippy, and Peppy
-Animal Crossing/Star Wolf: Wolf, Leon, Panther, Andrew, Pigma
-Star Fox Adventures/Jurassic World, basically Fox, Krystal, and Tricky with the text used from the movie, basically a parody
off-topic but does anyone play Brave Frontier? i just made a krystal guild in it, too bad I didn’t get up early enough to actually take the name Krystal lol.
Dinosaur Planet: Something has survived.
@Alfore
I would be careful when considering whether to reference something from outside of Nintendo or something another artist did. From my understanding of the rules it may not get accepted.
I get that. I’m just screwing around. I actually had a pretty decent idea.
@All
Here’s an easy idea to go by which can help in making your art original. Instead of thinking about things that Nintendo has done in video games like dinosaur planet and all that. Why not just do art that has meaning?
Here are some example:
-Krystal sitting by the beach, she gazes into the full moon remembering her own world. (And you draw some small art clips beside the moon to show her thoughts)
-Krystal and Fox sitting facing each other (But the table is shaped like a heart)
-Fox in a ready stance holding Krystal’s staff while a ghostly figure of Krystal stands above Fox behind him (Symbolizing that she is with him because he holds her staff)
And there are more and more ideas!!!! You see! If you think of things and words to have meaning you can draw a lot of cool stuff! One of the rules states “Let you imagination guide you” What better way than to explore your own art and make it have meaning.
Here’s a drawing i did for an art contest on deviantart: http://lucasjg1994.deviantart.com/art/Contest-Entry-Tristan-The-Immortal-Child-615724492
Basically the character’s info stated that the OC symbolized Winter and a twisted tree. The bio for the character also stated that the OC was scary intelligent and that those who served under him feared him. So I decided to draw him sitting down looking at a Black chess piece which was the king.
What I like about that contest is that the winners also get a NX signed by Mr. Miyamoto, so NX confirmed for spring 2017!!!
@LucasJG1994
I liked you’re idea about the Krystal ghost figure.
But you can expand the idea by making a wireframe in the middle and have Fox and Krystal skins left and right like they’re clothes on a hanger and on the top, it writes “choose” (a pun, because they share the same animations in SFA and also you choose to play the game as Krystal or Fox as the protagonist).
And my own idea, imagine the krazoa palace with the big crystal and the spirits at the top and inside, is empty. Then Krystal will make a dynamic exit from there by walking towards to you with her staff, FREEDOM!!!
I think it will also make a great wallpaper for the pc (in this case, I might remove Krystal completely (she already left) and leave the awesome background).
@Jimaki
An interesting idea. But you’d need Krystal to be the main focus of the art. After all the whole point of the contest is to promote Nintendo Characters.
OK I get you, I just pitched some ideas, but what baffles me is the following:
Are they trying to copy the styling of the characters or you can draw them as you wish?
Do they want sketches on paper or professional images made in Photoshop or something?
They want something simple or throw a million details (is not very practical for a t-shirt)?
I really don’t know really how the entries are gonna look like .
P.S. The Krazoa palace one,
I actually wanted to make it for myself as a wallpaper or a poster, but I lack the skill and equipment to do it
I would like to have it as a commission or something like that, who knows…
@Jimaki
Remember they said “Let your imagination guide you” So they aren’t restricting you to draw in a specific way. Plus Have you thought of doing doodling art with the characters?
Also the rules states that you can only send your submission through the website. So I guess you could do your art digitally and as for the type of software used for drawing I just use MS Paint. Of course you’d need a graphics tablet to draw on your computer. If you don’t have one you could scan your art into your computer.
@LucasJG1994
I’m not thinking entering the contest,
but a little practice isn’t gonna harm. I’m thinking about buying a laptop in the near future, so I’ll add a graphics tablet in the combo. I need to start from somewhere you know.
Hey guys sup. Any one submitted their art to the contest yet?
Still working on mine. My first attempt wasn’t turning out great so started again. It’s looking better now. Still some way off completion but it’s getting there.
