Miyamoto Laments Fox McCloud’s Low Popularity
Katie Linendoll, in an interview with Mr. Miyamoto about Super Mario Run and other behind-the-scenes discussions, asked about other characters Mr. Miyamoto had worked with that never became quite as popular as he had hoped. Mr. Miyamoto jumped to Fox McCloud from Star Fox, and also Pikmen. He said he will have to put more effort into those series to correct this.
So there you go! Once again, Nintendo is not, and never has been, in the business of killing of franchises, even if they don't work out as well as expected. In fact, it looks as if Mr. Miyamoto will put even more time into Star Fox in the coming few years. With luck and "energy", I think he can find some magic that is both new and even more successful than the series' current high-water-mark: Star Fox 64.

hints towards starfox on the switch.
I hope this means “we won’t rush another star fox remake out and will actually let the developers finish the game they are creating”
@kevin
I hope so too. More so I hope the next game is actually an amazing new game. I can live with a fun game but what the series needs is an amazing one.
That’s good. I agree with you on this, Mr. Krystal that Nintendo has not been known for killing off franchises like that. I even told people online about this on what Nintendo does to their established IPs and they don’t even kill off IPs like that despite what is going on with them. Besides I have yet to see an actual established IP from Nintendo getting killed off. Also, as I said before, there is a likely chance that we’ll get a Starfox game on the Switch. For Miyamoto putting more effort onto it, yes I agree on that and don’t give the players gimmicky controls that no one wants and give us a SF game with traditional controls that everyone loves to play. But also to find a way to make the series evolve with the inclusion of online multiplayer. So Miyamoto, please if you’re going to get involved with the next SF game, please listen to the fans on what they really want for the next game and only then will it be a hit. This is coming from a passionate Starfox fan like myself and I’m sure everyone here on this site will agree to what I have to say here.
As a matter of fact, since Platinum Games are still interested in making a sequel to Zero, please Miyamoto, let them try it out only this time with more control and I’ll bet it’ll be a spectacle even more than Zero especially since Hashimoto did say also of bringing our favorite blue vixen back in the next game in a new limelight.
I’ll bet Krystal lacked popularity, too. Especially if Adventures is non-canon.
i don’t know, star fox series kind of a like average grade game to me, even thought i did like adventures and assault.
This is pretty much exactly what the series needs. Miyamoto to take it seriously. With it should bring an actual sequel. Honestly I think the switch is probably the best system currently to put a Starfox title on as the general nature of the games works quite well on a mobile platform and has been shown with Assault to have stunning art if they choose to do so with the light of the console’s supposed graphical power. Beating Starfox 64 sounds difficult but i’m rather sick of them trying to ride of it. I think we’ve also seen most of Starfox 2’s mechanics aswell so with any luck they’re finally going to do something new. I just hope the development team shows even an ounce of passion for the characters
Personally I think Nintendo and Miyamoto need to outsource it to Platinum, and Miyamoto should only be in an advisory role for the project. I think Platinum could do a great job in evolving the franchise past its on-rails origins, into an Open World game. Also I would love to see more aspects of the universe explored, such as the original Star Fox team, how Star Wolf formed, and Krystal’s back story
You know, if Miyamoto is now going to take this seriously the best thing to do is. #1 DROP STAR FOX 64 COMPLETELY! Seriously, nobody wanted a 2nd Star Fox 64 remake reimagining for the Wii U (well at least some of us here). We were waiting 10 years for an official sequel, not a complete rehash of Star Fox 64. #2, bring back elements from Adventure’s open world and exploration, Assault and Zero’s gameplay mechanics to be one of the greatest shooter series (aside being locked in a vehicle, that’s just boring). So I did a picture of how the next game should play out in terms of the gameplay: http://smashfan1367.deviantart.com/art/Future-Star-Fox-Gameplay-Idea-603004171

@Ian
you’re in luck with the whole Krystal backstory, I did a video regarding the topic that you might be very interested in.
I gotta admit… when Miyamoto said he didn’t know if he’d still be alive in 5 years I burst out in tears, the thought of a world without the legendary Miyamoto is heartwrenching. Sure it sucked when Iwata passed… but Miyamoto is on a whole different level! So far there has only been 2 celebs deaths that made me break down and cry (Dale Earnhardt and Michael Jackson) and unfortunately when its Miyamoto’s time it will be the most painful of all! :(
@StarDog Smasher
Okay, can I tell you what I had in mind for her backstory
