Krystal Cosplay by Abigail
For our final post of Krystal Cosplay Week, here's a new Krystal cosplayer I have never posted about before!
I was vaguely aware of Abigail (aka _the_cosmic_firefox2000_) because I would see her from time to time in image searches, but it took me a while to locate her social media profiles. She only cosplayed as Krystal for a short time in 2022, as far as I can tell, attending TerrifiCon 2022 and Anime NYC 2022 along with many of her many other cosplay characters. Other than that, she posted a lot of videos on TikTok. More on that at the bottom of the post.
I reached out to Abigail a while back, but so far have been unable to contact her to get more information, so below I piece together what I can from what I've found. Abigail, if you see this, please contact me and let's talk! I'd love to get more info and photos of your time as Krystal.
She did a Q&A video to address common questions:
- She was inspired to cosplay Krystal because Krystal is an underrated character, and that's the kind of character she usually cosplays.
- The only Star Fox game she has played is Star Fox Zero.
- Apparently, she made a fabric mask that had Krystal's nose and mouth on it, but I have yet to find a photo of it.
- She chose to do the hair as curly dreadlocks, which is how a Star Fox wiki article described Krystal's hair (not the word I would use, but fair enough).
The cosplay itself appears to be an Assault suit (unsure if hand-made or bought), modified with fabric-covered foam pads on the shoulders. She wears green cat contact lenses sometimes. The headpiece is a dreadlock like wig tinted slightly a dark blue/purple with a jeweled headband built into a forehead construction of light blue fabric to mimic Krystal's fur, which matches the fur of the ears. The tail and gloves also match the light blue coloration, with the tail fur being pretty fluffy. Lastly, she appears to have custom-made the belt and belt buckle. My guess is the belt is shiny fabric with carved and painted EVA foam for the buckle.
There aren't many photos of her that I can find. I found a few, but not enough to post yet. More research is needed. If you know of some more places Abigail was photographed in her Krystal cosplay, please contact me with the info!
Most of her content as Krystal is on her TikTok account. Here are all the videos I could find. For those unfamiliar with TikTok content, a lot of these videos are intentionally acting out scenes from memes or movies, encouraging others to grab and remix the video in their own TikTok videos.
