Merry Krystmas!
We here at the Krystal Archive wish you and yours a Happy Christmas. Spend time with your family and friends, appreciating what you have and looking forward to the new year. We have quite a few things coming early in 2016. Ayano will appear at Further Confusion in her Star Fox Command suit. I'm also planning a new podcast for the 10th anniversary of the Krystal Archive. Plus, lots of site changes are coming.
Ayano posted some festive photos on her Twitter. Don't forget to follow her for the latest.
Krystal Not in Smash. Ayano Cries.
It was a long shot... and she didn't make it after all. At least the new characters they did show (Corrin and Bayonetta) look like interesting characters to play. Sorry, Krystal fans. Take heart that Nintendo has a very hard job here. No matter who was chosen, many people would be disappointed. They're trying to make the best games they know how.
Ayano reacted as one might expect: "SSBB race was lost. 。・゚・(ノД`)・゚・。 "
Geno Hat and the Smash Direct Chatroom
Some data-miners have already figured out that Geno will get a Mii Fighter hat, along with some other details about Cloud's entry. Otherwise, no new character spoilers have been discovered. That means we'll all just have to wait and see later today at the final Smash Bros. Direct presentation.
The stream link and chatroom are available. Go to the chatroom, pick a username, and use the password 'vixen'. Join us later today at 2 PM PST (5 PM EST)!
Final Smash Direct Dated: December 15th!
It is finally upon us. Tuesday, December 15th is the day and 2 PM PST (5 PM EST) is the time. It is then that we will get the next and final video for Super Smash Bros. Many speculate that this event will reveal information about the results of the official Fighter Ballot. What characters (if any) have they decided to include as playable characters in the final DLC? I know many of you are waiting to decide to buy or ignore this game based on that alone (just play the game, you'll love it, trust me). Either way, I will be watching closely. Let's do another chat when it happens. I will set up another chatroom as the date draws closer.
Thanks to LucasJG1994 for the heads up.
LucasJG1994 Records ‘Krystal Captured’ Song
The beautiful, but haunting song that plays during the cutscene of Krystal becoming trapped only exists on the game disc as a recorded song with the sound effects mixed in. As a result, there's no way to extract just the song portion of that cutscene. However, LucasJG1994 sent me his recording of it. We worked back and forth to create sheet music, a midi version, and a synthesized voice version (which sounds similar to how it does in the game. Feel free to take the sheet music and midi file to play and remix the song yourself. Perhaps you can make a version that sounds even closer to the original.
Krystal Holding Things
Ayano has continued in the tradition of Krystal holding things when she posted some photos recently. The two things this time are the two Star Fox Amiibo and that infernal sandwich which she so rarely can enjoy.
The Game Awards 2016
Tomorrow (December 3rd, 2015), at 6PM PT (9PM ET), the Game Awards 2015 show will be broadcast live across the internet. Nintendo will have a presence there. It was hinted that they will show off some new things. Last year was an amazing spectacle and Mr. Aonuma showed some gameplay footage of Zelda for Wii U. This year? Who knows. It's not going to be the NX, but Star Fox, Smash Bros, and of course Zelda, are distinct possibilities.
Want to watch it with me? I'm going to hold a public chatroom while watching it so we can all see and react together, like we did for E3. As before, just go to the chatroom, choose a nickname, and use the password 'vixen'. Feel free to join the room early, though I might not be around (it's a public room, after all, so be careful). I plan to be ready in the chat around 15 minutes prior to the show start time. Hope to see you all there.
Krystal Confirmed Absent from Star Fox Zero
A fact picked up on numerous news websites today, Mr. Yusuke Hashimoto, Platinum Games Director, and co-developer of Star Fox Zero, answered a tweet by Jordan Sweeto on August 16th.
@JordanSweeto Aug 16
.@PG_y_hashimoto Can we expect to see Krystal in Star Fox Zero at all?
To which, Mr. Hashimoto replied:
橋本祐介 @PG_y_hashimoto
@JordanSweeto She won't show up this time, but I'd love to put her in a sequel if we'd get to make one!
So, an 11 year-old Krystal will NOT be in Star Fox Zero (expected), and Platinum would love to continue working on the Star Fox series (EXCELLENT!). Star Fox Adventures "reimagining" perhaps? :P
Thanks to all who reported this, and a special thanks to 'earth being' for finding it first.
Today is Star Fox Delay Day
Well, here we are... We could be playing Star Fox Zero right now if it wasn't for Nintendo's old-fashioned ideas about "quality", and "value", and even, "releasing only when it's ready". Ha ha, ok, I can't keep writing this. Delays suck, but bad games suck more. If they need the extra time, they need the extra time.
In the meantime, what's a Star Fox fan to do? I mentioned earlier that the Falco Amiibo came out today, so you could use that with Smash (and see if it works with other games???). I REALLY wanted to have the Star Fox Assault Voice Acting page all ready to go in a nice sorting and searching capabilities, but it's simply not there yet (but I am working on it). Lastly, we talked about Layeyes's "Star Fox: Lylat Legacy" comic series before. What I didn't know was that he moved the comic's location and has been updating it consistently. (I thought he had taken a break from the project, when in fact he had just moved sites.) So, if you haven't started reading this EXCELLENT Star Fox comic, now's the time. You can find the whole thing so far on his dedicated comic blog.
Falco Amiibo Released
Star Fox Zero wasn't released today thanks to a delay, but the previously scheduled Falco Amiibo was! I just picked mine up. Turns out it's a Best Buy exclusive Amiibo in America. However, it looked like they had plenty of stock. The Fox Amiibo is also getting restocked along with other older Amiibo due to rarity.
I'm planning to do a feature where I set up the Fox and Falco Amiibos on infinite stock in Smash Bros. and see which one comes out on top by the time they reach their max level. It should be pretty funny at first, with Fox and Falco not knowing what they're doing, but will quickly become fast-paced. Be on the lookout for that video in a week or so.
