Handcrafted Krystal Staff for Adventures Fox Cosplay
Cosplayer and cosplay photographer, Ty_asselin on Instagram (HalfLightPhotography), recently completed a Fox McCloud cosplay at the C4 Central Canada Comic Con in October 2017. His costume included a game-accurate version of Krystal's staff made from cut, shaped, and carved foam. I am particularly impressed with the care with which he matched the pattern on the shaft. There aren't really any photos of him in costume with the staff that I have seen, but he said he's going to try and do some more photos with the Fox McCloud costume soon. Maybe we'll see more. In the meantime, you can look at some work-in-progress shots and a few photos of the completed staff.

Reminds me of the videos I saw of the DIY Metroid arm cannon or Zelda master sword.
Looks very accurate.
Well it’s not perfect, the head is too thin and the primary shaft has a darker color ingame aswell, but it is physically pretty accurate otherwise. I still need me one of these.
Yep, looks pretty good and accurate overall. Also, speaking of the staff, I think I can hear the fire blaster sound in this non-SF-related video. Thought I’d share (It’s not edited, btw. This is the version that just aired in Japan): https://youtu.be/Cpy0jAjBU5A?t=107
Hope this doesn’t count as spam, but since the video got taken down, I thought I’d give you another one. It’s german subbed but that shouldn’t matter as this is about the audio: https://youtu.be/4Ovu5koNKOc?t=114
I don’t know about you guys, but to me, this sounds pretty much exactly like the fire blaster as well as these blue energy blasts that Krystal fires at the galleon while on the CloudRunner. Scary…
@Mr. Brownstone
I don’t want to ruin your expectations but a lot of the sound effects on SFA are pretty generic to say. So, there is the chance that you will hear a similar sound on an another game/show/anime.
@Jimaki
Yeah, Mr. K told me about it already. He said that SFA used lots of sound samples from a paid library, but he also thinks that this is indeed the fire blaster sound effect in the video. While many sounds in SFA are generic, the fire blaster sound is very distinctive and I would recognize it anytime. It seems like the people in charge of the anime decided to use samples from the same library that SFA used, according to Mr. K, and I think that makes a lot of sense. I might find out in future episodes. Maybe I’ll hear some more sound effects from SFA ;)
Anyway, I was really surprised to hear a sound effect that was used in one of my favorite franchises being used again in another personal favorite of mine. I mean, what were the odds for that? I have watched every episode of that anime so far, and that’s the first time they used this sound. They have plenty of other sound effects that would have worked a lot better here. The sound felt really out of place in that scene, but they still used it. I joked and told Mr. K that this might be a sign for some good things to come. Remember, SF turns 25 in February. Speaking of that, do you think Nintendo has anything in store for the anniversary?
