Once again, I must apologize for delays! Work and life have been busier than I could have imagined, so I actually FORGOT about the January 8th anniversary of the Krystal Archive being online. It's been online for 16 years as of that date. Never done that before! I didn't even get to record a podcast episode all last year. That's unacceptable. I will set aside some time to do that soon. I'm so sorry.

The good news is that things are starting to slow down a bit again, so I have time to regularly update. I posted something earlier today and I have another post ready to go for tomorrow.

In other projects, I am about to restart development on the Krystal Staff project where I attempt to create a game-accurate Krystal Staff. If successful, I plan to make them available for purchase. Be warned, though. They will be very expensive. But it'll have lights and moving parts, so that's kinda how it goes.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Star Fox Adventures' release date, and the day that Krystal came into most of our lives. That event deserves something special. But what? I'll have to think about this. What do you have in mind?

2022 is going to be a year of relearning stuff. It's been a while since I updated my skills with web development, and I have several websites that need a refresh. Not just in how they look, but stuff to make them faster, easier to use, and easier to post on social media. Fingers crossed!

Ludoxei, who has done Krystal fanart before recently opened up her commissions. It was a good price and she likes Metal Gear Solid, so I figured why not combine the two. This is the result! Love it.

As usual with my commissions, I have her permission to release the full size version, which is 6270 × 5016 pixels.

A day and a half after Christmas, I finally get a spare moment to update the site! That's how hecticly busy I've been lately. Sorry about that. I will post more in the new year, I promise.

In a big release on December 4th, Models Resource has released 14 different ship models for download from Star Fox Command. This includes Krystal's Cloud Runner ship. These are all pretty low polygon, as expected for a DS game. Regardless, these have been a very long time coming. I'm surprised it has taken this long, since I know people have been trying to get these models for many years. I'm not sure if these are all the Playable Ships, or if there are few more. We also get the Great Fox 2, the ship the team was presumably lent to them after the Great Fox was destroyed in the attack on the Aparoid Homeworld. There are no ripped enemy ships, however.

Perfect timing for Halloween! YumeAislinn, a friend of the site, has been working on a Krystal cosplay over the last two weeks. To my knowledge this is the first ever Dinosaur Planet Krystal cosplay ever! She premiered the cosplay at DerpyCon in New Brunswick, New Jersey this weekend. There, she got tons of positive reactions and many people recognized the character. In fact, she managed to take home the Judge's Choice prize in the costume contest!

She plans to do a proper photoshoot soon. Maybe we'll get to see video too! The convention is still going on.

The cosplay has several notable features, including:

• Giant fluffy tail, custom dyed, sewn to a ribbon and later a carabiner beneath the dress
• Big ears and blue wig to match
• Hand-painted face mask with pen and watercolors, to comply with COVID requirements
• Custom-sewn tribal dress, made from scratch out of pleather
• Copper staff with foam wraps, spray painted and marbled for effect
• Multiple real bronze pieces made by her husband:
  • Forearm Guard
  • Bicep Ring
  • Choker and attached Pendant
• Total cost was around $280

Backstory

Back around February, while doing a Twitch livestream, she had a "special project" in mind if a certain donation amount was reached. It was heavily implied that it would be a Krystal cosplay. Needless to say several people started donating, including a couple large donations, one from me, and another from her own mother. In very little time at all, what was a pie-in-the-sky project was fully funded. We've had the pleasure of seeing her work in progress photos on the Krystal Archive Discord Server. Spooky times are here again! Tactronaut on the Krystal Archive Discord Server said that he came home to find a friend had gifted him this custom painted Krystal pumpkin! Krystal's lovely face, the spiral, and #1 Waifu make up this work. Pretty sure this is the first Krystal-themed pumpkin I've ever seen. Well done, Tactronaut's friend!

BambooKat, who has previously made 3D Krystal Figurines and posted them for sale, has just finished sculpting a new Krystal model! The sculpt is a very detailed model in which Krystal is laying down with her Staff in her Adventure's garb. This beautiful 3D printed, hand-painted figurine can be yours for $200.
