Star Fox Zero megapost contains a bunch of stories that happened a while ago. Sorry I didn't get to post them individually, but I thought it would be good to post them for Archival reasons. This is the Krystal Archive after all.
GameXplain shows off the Retro Arwing mode you get when using the Fox McCloud Amiibo with Star Fox Zero. The sound effects and music also change when this Arwing is used. The transformed walker is like that found in Star Fox 2.

Interview with Miyamoto about Star Fox Zero by TheJWittz.
- Wants to avoid spoilers, so not much significant data about the story.
- Focused on Star Fox 64 characters as a reimagining of the game.
- Miyamoto hopes fans will come to appreciate Slippy, who will have a special role in the game.
- Denied the idea that Star Fox team have metal legs.
- Blue Marine was skipped because it wasn't a good fit for the control scheme of the game.
- Miyamoto wanted to change his famous line "A delayed game is eventually good. A bad game is bad forever." to "If you release a game in a bad state, you will always regret it."
- Used the delay for polish, obviously. However, initially they had made the game missions quicker, so that people would be able to play them in a single sitting in today's active lifestyle. However, fan feedback indicated that people actually did want longer, more epic missions. So that's what they did!
- They "aren't ready" to do online multiplayer for Star Fox yet, so it won't be in this game. Star Fox Guard, however, will have online play capabilities.
- Miyamoto had hoped to be approached for doing an animated Star Fox show using puppets like Thunderbirds, one of the original inspirations for Star Fox.
- They where very focused on making the game fun and accessible to new players while providing opportunities for mastery for skilled players.
Interview with Mr. Miyamoto about Star Fox Zero by Game Theory.
- Star Fox Zero was not originally a Star Fox game, but rather a model airplane prototype game that focused on using both screens in an interesting way.
- The Inari shrine's deity is one of good luck, which they also hoped would spell good things for the original Star Fox's financial success.
- The "barrel roll" was the result of a translation choice. In the Japanese version, it was just called "roll".
- Again, they denied that the Star Fox team have metal legs.
Arwing Transforming Amiibo Scrapped
GameInformer learned that there was an attempt to create a transforming Arwing Amiibo, like Transformers, except that it would transform from the Arwing to the Walker and back again. Unfortunately, they had to scrap the idea because the pieces would have been too small and unwieldy at that size, probably meaning parts broke off and the resulting small pieces would have been a choking hazard.
On the other hand, this means that it's technically possible to make an Arwing transformer like in the game, without pieces sliding through each other. Who's good at figuring out transformation patterns? Perhaps I could 3D print something. (Source)

Brand New Star Fox Zero Trailer and Full Nintendo Direct Posted
Epic! Also, in case you missed it, check out the Nintendo Direct. Star Fox was their first topic, so start at the beginning!
Star Fox Zero is Ready

The Nintendo Direct just kicked off with Star Fox. Here's what we learned:
- Fortuna revealed. Katt is in it, and it is full of bioweapons.
- Lots of branching paths. The Teleporters are part of it. Teleporters appear to allow branching paths into completely different levels in some cases.
- Area 3 revealed.
- Some alternate paths are only available after beating the game the first time.
- Target Mode control system (unknown how it works).
- Two player mode. One flies, one aims and shoots.
- Fox Amiibo lets you use classic Arwing from SNES.
- Project Guard is now Star Fox Guard: minigame in Star Fox Zero. You help a Grippy Toad (Slippy's relative) stop a robot invasion on a base. Comes as a packaged set. Buying them separately digitally is possible for a lower individual price.
- April 22nd release date reconfirmed.
Also, the official Star Fox Zero site has been updated. New data there:
- Star Fox Zero can be purchased by itself from the Nintendo eShop for $49.99, while the packaged version comes with the Star Fox Guard game at a suggested retail price of $59.99.
- Star Fox Guard is included in the retail version of Star Fox Zero. A standalone digital version of the game can also be purchased through the Nintendo eShop for $14.99. Customers that purchase the digital version of either Star Fox Zero or Star Fox Guard will receive an automatic $4.99 Nintendo eShop discount toward the purchase of the other game.
- Lots of data and images for Star Fox Guard.
Also shown off in the Nintendo Direct:
- New Paper Mario Color Splash
- My Nintendo mentioned
- Pokken Tournament discussed
- And lots more!
March Nintendo Direct on Thursday!

Nintendo just announced a surprise Nintendo Direct for tomorrow, March 3rd at 2 PM PST. There are reliable rumors saying that Star Fox Zero will feature prominently in the presentation. Other rumors indicate that Star Fox Zero might be delayed again, or possibly held back to release on the Nintendo NX. I think both might be a possibility, given that leak. If they are discussing something called "Star Fox Zero First Print Edition", I wonder if that means they'll release Star Fox Zero both on the Wii U and Nintendo NX, in a similar fashion to the release of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
Either way, I want to watch this Nintendo Direct with you guys, as always. Let's do a chatroom watch party!

Two Fox McCloud Statues Arrived

My Fox McCloud statues arrived last week. That's right, I bought 2 of them! The one that I opened is either number 793 or 193 (I can't tell exactly) of 5000. Anyway, I thought I'd do a simple unboxing, featuring my Fox and Falco Amiibos. View the full post to see.
