A Note About Updates
Just a quick message about how I plan to make posts here on the site. As you have been seeing for the last few weeks, I intend to post about one thing per weekday, hopefully around lunchtime. On the weekends, I may post only once, or not at all.
Behind the scenes, I'm trying to create posts in advance so it's just a matter of publishing what I already have worked out on any given day. Doing all the news gathering and posting at the same time can result in me missing days due to lack of time. Obviously, if there is big or official news, I try to post that right away. But generally, this is how I'm trying to approach things now.
I hope you've been enjoying the somewhat more regular posts. If you have suggestions for what you want to see more of (or less of), and have comments about how the site is run, please post a comment, or email me.
Fox to Krystal Cutscenes: Aboard the Great Fox
Krystal takes over Fox's own chair in the Great Fox. This cutscene is difficult to mod Krystal into, but BvqR zxi5 has managed it. Once again, the eyes are a little wonky, as is the size difference between Krystal and Fox's models, something I noticed before when working on my own videos.
WarfareMachine’s Garry’s Mod Krystal Demonstration
Using the Garry's Mod version of our very own WarfareMachine Krystal Rig, YouTube user HaydeeTheGame demonstrates Krystal running around and exploring a map in Garry's Mod. Nothing super special, but I thought I'd show it off. Maybe if you wanted to make a Krystal-focused 3rd person shooter or puzzle game, these free assets will give you a big head start.
Krystal vs King RedEye
Here's another video by BvqR zxi5. In these two cutscenes, Krystal faces the giant Tyrannosaurus Rex-like boss, King RedEye. She looks pretty silly in some of this one, because her Staff isn't there and her eye animations don't match up to Fox's. That's just a side-effect of this method of switching Fox to Krystal. Pretty epic, regardless!
Star Fox Adventures Press Promo Krystal Description
Thanks to a Reddit Post, I recently became aware of the existence of what appears to be a promotional booklet given to press and attendees at E3 2002 about Star Fox Adventures. Not entirely sure if that's the source, but that seems likely. Anyway, I quickly found one for sale on Ebay and purchased it. The intent is to scan its contents so you can all see what it contained. There isn't anything super earth-shattering in there as far as I can tell, just the type of stuff you would find in the instruction manual plus a little extra explanation of the game. However, it does provide additional confirmation of Krystal's backstory. Here's what it says about Krystal.
Krystal
Sex: FemaleEyes: BlueDescription:
She's not officially part of the Star Fox Team, but Krystal shares the team's interest in seeing General Scales and his SharpClaw army go down in flames. Roaming the galaxy in search of information about the demise of her home planet and family, Krystal has been drawn into the fray after answering a distress call from Dinosaur Planet. After a short adventure in Krazoa Palace, she will be in need of assistance, too. Eventually Fox and Krystal's paths will intersect -- after peace returns to the planet.

Fox to Krystal Adventures Codes Overview
Huge thanks to BvqR zxi5! Because of my previous post about his videos, I reached out to him and he has graciously provided new videos showing lots of new areas Krystal can be warped to in Adventures. She can move around, but her ability to interact with the world is limited, at least with this method. Still, very cool to see Krystal doing the CloudRunner Fortress Race and appearing in Cape Claw.
You can try this yourself with the extensive codes he provided in the video description. These codes probably only work with the USA Version 1.1 of Star Fox Adventures, also known as the Player's Choice version. All these codes should be possible with other versions, but their numbers would be different. Additionally, there's a very good chance you'll crash the game if you try these, so fair warning.
In the coming days, I'll be posting more of these videos. And maybe some of my own.
Cosplay Update Roundup
You might have seen this if you followed on Twitter, but Ayano just posted an update showing off an upgraded Zero Suit Samus suit. Look's fantastic!
Hikaru Cosplay has uploaded some new photos of her Krystal Assault Cosplay. She's been so encouraged that people remember Krystal. (Photos by EternCosplayApp.)
Technicolor Cosplay is cosplaying as Krystal again this weekend at Edmonton Comic Expo. The cosplay's mask has been slightly upgraded with better foam support in the ears. Hope to see pictures soon. Cosplay suit photo from Discord.
Star Fox Inspired “EX Zodiac” In Development
For the past two years, Ben Hickling has been slowly working on a Star Fox inspired game called EX Zodiac that pushes all the nostalgia buttons. It's go low-poly models, sprite-based effects, vertex coloring, gibberish communications from the characters, and genuine Star Fox gameplay. It looks like something that we might have seen from a Super FX version 2 if there ever was such a thing. Truth be told, I'm kinda jealous he's working on this. I wanted to make something like this myself!
So far, there's video of a Corneria-like level with tons of different enemies, obstacles, and showcasing both laser and missile weapons. There's over-water level with floating mines, rings to fly through, and cool sprite effects. Here's video of a boss enemy, a giant scorpion robot thing. Check out the links for even more footage and details.
The game is being built in GodotEngine. You can follow the game's development on Twitter, see more footage on the youtube channel, and the project homepage.
SharpClaw Adventures
In this hack by BvqR zxi5, he shows us an ambitious SharpClaw who rebels against General Scales, helps the Star Fox team defeat the SharpClaws, and wins Krystal in the end. What a touching story!
Star Fox Command: The Interpretive Dance
It's been a while since we had an MMD post. KTL The Lucario created this dance number, which, upon reflection, is hilariously like the plot of Star Fox Command, what with Krystal siding with Wolf temporarily, and Fox and Falco unloading some emotional baggage. This MMD seems to use models from Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
