Dozens of Star Fox 3D Models Available
Maybe some of you knew about this, but I sure didn't! Much like the Spriters Resource (a website devoted to hosting sprites from video games), there is now a website for hosting video game models called The Models Resource. They already have dozens of models from various Star Fox games, or games where Star Fox characters and vehicles made cameos. It's really amazing how many they already have, and I suspect they will upload far more as time goes on.
Of primary interest to you Krystal fans, they have uploaded 3 Krystal models:
- Star Fox Adventures Krystal - Ripped by Models124717
- Krystal Trophy from Super Smash Bros Brawl - Ripped by Link101
- Krystal Trophy from Super Smash Bros for Wii U - Ripped by ThatTrueStruggle
While we already have rips (or near-rips) of the first two models (here and here), I didn't realize until just yesterday that the trophy pose for Krystal is different between the two Smash Bros games. This is the first time I've seen the Wii U Krystal Trophy as a downloadable mesh. Awesome!
And, of course, there are TONS of other Star Fox related models at the time of writing, including...
- Star Fox Guard - Enemies, items, planets, and an Arwing model
- Star Fox Assault - Ships and enemies
- Star Fox Adventures - Various Characters
- Star Fox 64 - Enemies and ships
- Star Fox - Some custom-made ships
- Super Smash Bros for Wii U listing - Star Fox characters, items, and trophies
- Super Smash Bros. Melee - Star Fox characters, items, and trophies
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Star Fox characters, items, and trophies
- Bayonetta 2 - Fox Mercenary Outfit
- Street Pass Mii Plaza - Star Fox hats
- Legend of Zelda - The secret debug Arwing
No doubt there will be much more to come! Wow!
The question now is this: who will do something interesting and awesome with these models? I know I'm going to explore these for possibilities in the near future.
Krystal Does Not Approve
Fara decides to be best friends with Fox again after not seeing him for a long time. Krystal is less than enthusiastic.

Next Round of Furry Fiesta Images from Vulpine Media
I've just uploaded 27 new photos from Furry Fiesta 2017, featuring Ayano Harumaki cosplaying as Krystal. In some of these photos, you'll see things like:
- Krystal playing Smash Bros.
- Krystal doing some bartending.
- Fox and Krystal taking photos with two human weirdos. ;)
The photos are all credited to Vulpine Media. You can see them in the main Furry Fiesta 2017 Album, or among all the other photos in the Krystal Cosplay Group.
Star Fox Event Horizon Final Environments Preview Video
UndyingNephalim surprised us this morning with a new demo video showing the remaining environments for Star Fox: Event Horizon. There are at least 10 new areas shown here. UndyingNephalim also said he was planning to release a new demo with these new environments in the coming days. Here's the original Patreon Update.
Road Game’s Krystal Speedpaint
Just a quick speedpaint and digital shading video from Road Game (or Road Shadow). He recently uploaded the final artwork if you want to download it.
Cartoon Gurra’s Adventures Krystal Papercraft
Unlike most other Krystal Papercraft projects, Cartoon Gurra's is based on the Star Fox Adventures mesh rather than the Star Fox Assault mesh. He modded the original game mesh into a trophy-like pose and began prepping it for pepakura. The mouth was impossible to do correctly at that size, so he modified her mouth to be closed. There is a blog for the project called Krystal Papercraft. Unfortunately, there has been no progress on the project (that he's published anyway) since January 2013. This model hasn't been posted anywhere, so at this time, if you wanted to do a Krystal papercraft like this, you'd have to modify the mesh yourself.
Ayano Cosplaying at Kemoket6 Photos
On May 6th, 2017, Ayano Harumaki attended Kemoket 6, a furry comic mini-convention and event in Japan. She and several other cosplayers met up and took pictures. If you follow Ayano's Twitter, you may have seen some photos from the event. Ayano sent me 32 of her photos from the event. They have all been posted to a Kemoket6 Flickr Album and added to the Krystal Cosplay Group. Check them out!
Aya Hara’s Real Name is Teiya Ichiryūsai
Correction: Looks like I was wrong. According to Ayano, Teiya Ichiryūsai is yet another stage name. I guess we still don't know her real name. I've updated the pages appropriately.
It turns out that the voice actress for Krystal in the Japanese versions of Star Fox Assault and the cameos in Super Smash Bros. was using a stage name. Aya Hara's real name is Teiya Ichiryūsai, I recently found out. It looks like her revelation of her real name happened sometime in 2015. She appears to have largely left the video game voice acting industry and instead focuses on radio, narration, and announcement voice work. Amazing how you can still learn new things about subjects you thought were long over-with.
I have already updated her page on the Krystal Archive with the new information, and added a new page with the proper name. Photo from a tweet by WildBeat.
Zienaxd’s Krystal Cubee Papercraft
Lack the hand-eye coordination and patience to make a complicated Krystal papercraft based on game models? NO PROBLEM! This Krystal cubee papercraft by zienaxd only has a handful of folds and pieces. Plus, if you're feeling really creative, you could easily make Star Fox Adventures or Command variations of this papercraft. Download the template file and get started!
Nintendo @ E3 2017
It's that time of year again, Nintendo fans! Nintendo will be doing its E3 presentation and livestreams in just 14 days! Nintendo has announced the time of their initial presentation: June 13th at 9AM pacific (12PM eastern). We already know from Nintendo's announcements that the new Super Mario Odyssey, a sandbox 3D Mario game, will be the main focus. There will also be international competitions for both Splatoon 2 and ARMS. Of course, after the initial presentation, there will be dozens of hours of streaming coverage of all games announced or playable throughout the rest of the week.
What about rumors?
- I think it's pretty much given that Nintendo will officially release the awaited Summer DLC for Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
- The long-anticipated Smash 4 port for Nintendo Switch is rumored to be announced at the show.
- The worst-kept secret game in Nintendo's recent memory, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, might also see a reveal this year.
- The third version of the current-gen Pokémon game (to go with Pokémon Sun and Moon) has been rumored to be a Switch version since before the Switch was released. Perhaps we will see that.
- Retro Studios has been quiet. They have been working on something, but what? Some rumors say it's a new Metroid. Others say it's a brand new IP. Maybe it's both?
- Whether it's Retro Studios or not, many fans are chomping at the bit for a new Metroid staring Samus Aran. Nintendo will probably say something about the series.
- What about Star Fox? Well, I think 2018 is realistically the earliest we could see anything, but who knows? Perhaps Nintendo will use what they learned with Star Fox Zero to quickly turn around a new game (or a port it with a very different control scheme). Consider that Majora's Mask was built in only one year.
As always, I plan to be on chat with you guys the entire week as we watch the coverage of not just Nintendo, but the whole of the gaming industry. The one wrinkle is that I will be on a business trip during E3 week, so I might not be able to spend all that much time in chat. I should still be able to see the Nintendo presentation live, however.
Streams and information will be found on Nintendo's E3 page leading up to and during the event. I will make announcements about chat later. For now, I've added an event listing to the top of the navigation bar on the left.
