Free Fox McCloud DLC Coming to Monster Hunter Generations
Monster Hunter Generations for the 3DS came out in Japan back in November 28, 2015. Now, the game is coming to America and Europe on July 15th. After that, there will be a free DLC that will allow cat-like playable characters, the Palico, to dress as Fox McCloud and have other Star Fox-related cameos. I had intended to mention the Japanese announcement for the Fox McCloud DLC a while back, but I was delayed. Sorry about that, Fox fans.
There is more to the DLC than just a Fox McCloud costume, at least in the Japanese version. That version included the Fox McCloud suit, a blaster, a Landmaster skill, and other things. There were also Zelda and Metroid collaborations for the game. Check out the specific features for the Japanese version at gematsu.com. I suspect the English version of the game will feature the same sorts of DLC options eventually. Originally, this DLC was released as part of a 7 Eleven promotion in Japan, but in America and Europe, it will be released for free, though the release date is not yet public.
Thanks to Hope(N Forever) for the heads up!
Nintendo T-Shirt Contest Allows Star Fox Entries
Have an epic Krystal or Star Fox T-Shirt idea? UNIQLO is running a huge contest for a Nintendo t-shirt design, and it's being judged by Mr. Miyamoto himself. The winning design gets $10,000 (and a chance to spread our love of Star Fox). Head over to UNIQLO to find out rules and how to enter. The FAQ specifically calls out that allowed entries may feature characters from "the Star Fox series".
Preview: Terraria Krystal Mod
Site reader Falemirous wanted to let everyone know that he's currently working on a Krystal mod for the Windows version of Terraria, a 2D Minecraft-like game of exploration and crafting. He's very early in the process, but wanted to show off some sprites. He mentioned that there would possibly story elements and other items (Arwings?) in addition to customized character sprites.
Star Fox Decals
VM's friend just got into the business of custom vinyl decals. She made a few Star Fox decals for his car, as you can see in the photo above. I need to find out if she'll be willing to make more. I wouldn't mind a spiral or two for my car.
Star Fox: Lylat Legacy Reposted and “Finished”
Back at the end of 2015, Layeyes abruptly discontinued this much-loved and amazingly well made comic Star Fox: Lylat Legacy. After a few weeks, he reposted all of the that he had finished, as well as finished up the last bits so he could get it to a good stopping point. Unfortunately, the comic is cancelled, probably never to be resumed. But at least we get to see it again as it is. All three chapters have been posted to Pixiv. You can read the comic without an account, just keep closing the popup messages.
We wish Layeyes well, hoping he will get the rest and work he needs and wants. Thank you for reposting your art for us fans!
Further Confusion 2016 Fursuit Parade Featuring Fox & Krystal
Site contributor Lylat-Mobius Adventurer (aka Brian) has uploaded his video of the complete Further Confusion 2016 fursuit parade. Appearances are made at 22:33 by Ayano as Krystal, and FJ McCloud as Fox McCloud.
More videos are coming soon as he finishes editing them. LMA followed the two of them around the con and got lots of photos and video.
Krystal Charm Followup
There were a lot of questions about the upcoming Krystal charm. Zyn (the artist) and I are very happy with your interest. Here are the answers to the questions. If you have more questions, please add them to the comments.
How many will be made? Will they be discontinued?
Once the first charm is made, additional charms can be made as needed. As long as there is demand, Zyn can keep making them.
Can they be shipped? What about to other countries?
They can be shipped. Shipping to other countries may be more expensive.
When will it be available? When can we see mockups?
The first availability will probably be in August. Zyn will begin sketches and mockups starting in July. We will post progress shots as they become available.
Will there be an Assault version? What about Assault Krystal with her staff?
A different model will require additional investment for Zyn to make a new charm from scratch. However, her prices are reasonable, and then we will all have different Krystal variations for purchase, just as I am doing by commissioning the initial version. If you want a special variation on the standard charm model, you may be able to contact Zyn about a custom paintjob for a small additional cost, so that you could have an Assault Krystal with her staff, for example. That will be between the two of you to work out, however.
E3 Week Conclusion
E3 has come and gone. There were a lot of interesting reveals by a lot of companies, including Nintendo. We now know quite a bit about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and it looks like it will be worth the wait. No Star Fox news, but we expected that. We can expect the NX reveal to happen this Fall, so there's still some things to look forward to before 2017 rolls around. Now that this is over, I hope we can get back to our regularly scheduled posts!
Krystal Commission
I decided to do a Krystal commission viwrastupr, an artist I saw at Everfree NW, because I loved his art style. I tried to give him a lot of freedom for the piece. For the most part, I just told him "Show Krystal in a peaceful, calm mood." He placed her sitting in a canyon among the nature even as a futuristic Lylat city rises in the background. Could it be on Titania?
At my special request, we are posting the image at full resolution. Just click the preview above to get the 22 MB original. Please do not make prints of it without viwrastupr's permission.
Here is viwrastupr's DeviantArt post of the art.
E3 Week
Hello everyone! I'm back from my trip, and now it's time for the exciting new developments at E3 and more! This year, Nintendo won't be doing an E3 Nintendo Direct, but will jump straight to Treehouse Live at E3 tomorrow (Tuesday, June 14th) at 9AM PST / 12PM EST. You should be able to watch the stream at e3.nintendo.com or Nintendo's Twitch Channel.
EA and Bethesda did their conferences last night, and today, Microsoft, Ubisoft, and Sony will be doing their presentations. Even though they are not Nintendo, I would encourage you to watch them anyway, if just to be knowledgeable of what the rest of the game industry is up to. You can watch their streams on IGN's YouTube Stream. Also happening today, Apple will be giving their annual press conference at WWDC. Tons of tech news today!
The entire first day of Nintendo coverage tomorrow is supposedly about the new Zelda game. On Wednesday, they'll talk about other games, including the new Pokémon Sun and Moon game. I don't think we'll see much, if anything Star Fox related this year, but you never know. It's always fun to see new things. Nintendo also said they wouldn't be showing off the new Nintendo NX console at E3.
As always, I will be hosting a chatroom the whole week! I'm already online. For those who want to watch the stream with me, please join in! Go to the chatroom, pick a username, and use the password 'vixen'.
