Sora in Smash
This morning we found out the final Smash Fighter for Super Smash Bros Ultimate is going to be Sora from Kingdom Hearts, an immensely popular character. To all the Sora fans out there, my sincerest congratulations on seeing your dreams come true. He got in at the last possible moment!
For us Krystal fans, it is a bittersweet moment. No more fighters will be released for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, most likely. However, Smash Bros as a series will continue on. We Krystal fans are nothing if not patient. We did get to see her as an Assist Trophy this time around, which has been great and I'm very thankful to have gotten that much. Until the next Smash game is announced, we eagerly await her chance to shine once again.
Delays and Disaster
Hi everyone! I'm really sorry for the lack of updates lately. I've had a lot of travel and time-critical real life things taking up my time lately. I was just about to get into a lull where there would be more time for updating the site and then... my computer exploded.
I'm not kidding.
There was a loud bang and now the computer won't turn on at all. Probably the power supply. It was a new computer too! No-one has seen or heard of this sort of thing on my computer model before, as far as I can tell. Freak accident.
It's an all-in-one soldered system, so removing the hard drive isn't feasible right now. It's being looked at, but I haven't heard anything for two days. The chances of me getting data off of it are slim. Fortunately (or unfortunately), it was a new computer. So I still have backups from when I made the transfer from my old computer two months ago. That computer is what I'm using now (which is also kinda broken). Plus, I wasn't working that much on the Krystal Archive at the time, so Krystal related losses should be small. All that to say, it means that I need to spend some time making sure my computer situation is stable and rebuilding the data I've lost for a while, trying to make sure nothing like this can happen again.
It's probably going to get worse before it gets better. Thanks for your patience.
Sakurai Talks About Krystal
On this day in 2002, 19 years ago, Star Fox Adventures was released for the first time, changing our lives forever. Sakurai called out this fact on his Twitter account today and even gave a little shout out to Krystal!
Star Fox Adventures: The Comic Publicly Updated
PumpkinSoup (Abby Davis) has finally publicly updated the Star Fox Adventures comic she's been working on consistently for years on Patreon. If you have been helping fund the comic, this is nothing you haven't seen before, but for everyone else, you get to finally catch up on tons of content for the first time in a long while. Now, they're still updating the comic blog with new pages that have been out on Patreon for a while, so that means over the next few days and weeks, more and more pages will be added, hopefully at a regular interval.
Large Acrylic Krystal Painting Up For Auction
Artist Tassy has just completed a Krystal painting of Krystal titled "There You Are", and it is up for bidding right now. The piece is 18 by 14 inches (45.7 x 61 cm), made with acrylics on watercolour paper, cold press 140 lb. You can see work in progress shots here.
At the time of writing there have not been any bids. If you would like to bid, the starting bid is $300 and has a minimum increase bid of $10. Shipping not included. Bidding ends on Sunday, June 20th. Though the auction will extend if there is bid-sniping. You will need to place bids in the comments of the FurAffinity post, which requires an account to view and comment.
E3 Nintendo Direct 2021
It's that magical time of year again! Time to see what Nintendo has in store for us. There's some expected titles like Breath of the Wild 2 and Metroid Prime 4, but otherwise Nintendo has done a pretty good job keeping their presentation plans under wraps.
Will we see the Star Fox series make an appearance? Krystal? Only one way to find out! Watch the livestream on June 15th at 9AM Pacific (12PM Eastern)! Whether we get Star Fox and Krystal news, or not, Nintendo is sure to surprise.
As for other companies, I haven't had time to watch through all the other press conferences, but I did see Microsoft's (which was good), and I heard Devolver Digital's presentation was good too. All the others were apparently very bad. It's up to you now, Nintendo! Time to shine!
Sorry about the severe lack of posts lately. I'm doing ok. Keeping just busy enough to prevent me from restarting the posts.
Updated 3D Printable Krystal Trophy Available
Freefox has released an updated model set designed for better 3D printing of a Krystal trophy. It is broken up into multiple pieces for easier printing, along with slots to reassemble the final trophy piece. You can download the printing files for free, right now.
It also looks like Freefox is working on making custom Krystal keycaps for keyboards. Looking forward to that development too.
Epic Fox vs Falco Animation
9Hammer has made an epic fight animation for one of the greatest matchups: Fox vs Falco. Fast moves and explosions. Dragon Ball Z would be proud.
I'm reminded of the old TAS-based fights between Fox and Falco in Super Smash Bros Brawl.
Takaya Imamura Post-Nintendo IGN Interview
Takaya Imamura has a history with Star Fox. He was the character and 2D artwork Designer on Star Fox (SNES), the Art Director for Star Fox 64, Nintendo's Supervisor to Rare for Star Fox Adventures, a Producer on Star Fox Assault and Command, a Supervisor in Star Fox Zero/Guard, he helped with the Star Fox Zero animated short, and he worked on the Star Fox aspects of Starlink. We posted a recently translated interview with him that features interesting details about Star Fox Adventures and his work with Star Fox. Of course, he also worked on many other Nintendo projects.
On January 20th, 2021, after 32 years at Nintendo, he decided to retire and pursue a job as a professor at the International Professional University of Technology in Osaka. He begins that job today. IGN did an interview with him about his time at Nintendo, his work with Star Fox, F-Zero, and other memories of his time at Nintendo.
We wish him well in his new career path. Thanks for all your hard work and service over the years!

Krystal’s Final Enemy (Dinosaur Planet Spoilers)
For those who don't know, Dinosaur Planet had a really really complicated story compared to Star Fox Adventures. Characters you thought were friends turn out to be enemies and it's not entirely clear who the true villain is. I think some of the voice acting that we have from Dinosaur Planet never actually gets used in the game, so this might have been an unused plotpoint.
Given that some people may be playing a build of Dinosaur Planet for the first time, this probably counts as a small spoiler, so I won't say much more. Anyway, StarToad64 made this quick animation of this surprising scene.
